So my 8th grade daughter has wanted a trigger trombone for the past two years. She's very short for her age, and she has had a difficult time reaching 7th position (she has to change her embouchure and slide the mouthpiece to the side of her mouth to reach it, lol). I looked all over for a good quality yet reasonably priced trigger trombone (around $1,000) and they're pretty hard to find. People with used top of the line horns want top of the line prices, which can be well over $1,500, and people with junk horns want less, but you get what you pay for. I was looking for a quality trombone at a reasonable price that my daughter could play throughout high school (and even college).I saw this trombone on Amazon, and I knew it was a winner. A great horn at a great price. I have a Bach Strad trumpet, which is superb, and the Bach name has always been synonymous with quality. I've always been impressed with the quality of Bach instruments. I asked a band director friend of mine (who is a trombone player) if this was a good horn, and he confirmed that this was an awesome buy ("It's a winner!" he said). Plus, my daughter's band director also agreed, saying he played this same horn throughout high school and most of college and loved it. So I took the plunge and purchased this trombone. I've never been happier! My daughter loves it! She loves that she doesn't have to totally change her technique to reach 7th position - she has a trigger for that - and she also loves the tone she makes on the horn. The larger bore helps produce a full, rich tone, which was noticeable from the first note she played. Aesthetically, she loves the two tone color of the trombone (lol, 8th graders!). Plus, she loves that the cloth/foam case is much lighter than her rental, which was larger and made out of heavy plastic, which makes it much easier for her to carry to and from school. Even though the case is lightweight, it is still very sturdy and provides great protection for the horn (and my $1,000 investment!!!). My daughter likes that the case has a handle on the end, a shoulder strap across the length of the case, and two backpack straps where she can carry the horn like a backpack (so cool!). It's often the little things that children notice! :-)I would highly recommend this trombone to anyone who is looking for a good quality, budget friendly intermediate trombone for their child. It is worth every penny. I would buy this again for my daughter in a heartbeat!

I am the son of this account and I thought I would leave a review because I was slightly skeptical about buying this trombone for this low of price. I want to this is a fantastic trombone, and I've only been playing for a year and have incredibly improved my skills. I had barely been able to hit a pedal Bb in my begginning, and now I can play a double pedal octave C scale. This is a great and fantastic trombone if you're looking for one for a low price. I've dropped the slide a couple of times and banged around the instrument and the metal is durable and no dents! It hasn't lost its shine, it's quite beautiful. The case is nice and even if it's not plastic, it has a protective durable inside barrier which I have found works quite well. The trigger works nicely and I would think is quite silent to some of the reviews I have read on other trombones. The slide works great, doesn't jam up at all. I havn't oiled the rotor yet and it still works fine. Overall, I would say this is a definite must get if you're looking to step up from a tenor to an F trigger, because this has been a great experience for me.

Just trying to get back to serious playing after 40+ years and retired. Played semi professionally when younger, but the demands of a business career and family sidetracked the musical part. Had debated an Edwards or Bach 42B, but given the expense and that I'm unsure how well I will be able to "comeback", this horn makes a good compromise. It has a nice tone, the slide and f valve work smoothly (out of the box the f valve was a little sticky, but after oiling it, it works great). The case is quality and protective. I saw some confusion on the included mouthpiece. Mine came with a Bach 6.5AL, which is a good basic one, but I'm probably going to buy a Denis Wick mouthpiece soon, especially for the high register. This is absolutely a good quality buy for trombone players to advance from a beginner horn to the intermediate level. Especially those on a budget as you will need to spend 3-5 times this amount to get to a proper advanced horn.So its me, the horn and Arban's for now as I attempt to regain my playing ability!

Okay folks. My 3.5 year review of this horn. Overall it’s been a great horn and sounds great. Very smooth slide and great finish. I did, however have to get the F-trigger repaired by a local instrument repairman as it just kept sticking. Works great now with no issues for the last 1.5 years. I’ve gotten plenty of use out of it being in two bands. The case is nice and durable. Overall, I’d recommend highly. Whether you’re a beginner, intermediate or advanced player, this is a great instrument for $895.

This trombone is alright for a non pro player. All info before the sale indicated it was made in Indiana. Don't be fooled. It was made in China. Conn Selmer outright lied about where it was made.
