I searched for hours and hours to find the right priced and not soon to rust out line cutter. I enjoy clean lines, simplicity, and absolute utility that works all of the time. I once worked as a commercial diver Sea Urchin harvester and Oil Rigs off the California Coast Channel Islands and found that simple in a stress situation is key, after all this is a rescue, safety tool.It also has to last and not degrade too quickly with use and over time, extra/replacement blades is huge plus otherwise this is a soon to be throw away item. Five Stars - this line cutter is excellent and not a throw away item. The blade has not shown signs of rusting, extra replacement blades, very simple to deploy from the sheath and comes complete. I love my Five Star item and the price is way more than reasonable!!

It's a good line cutter. I haven't checked how well it will last underwater (but with a ceramic blade and aluminum construction, it should be pretty durable). I've tested on heavy duty braided fishing line, and it cuts that easily.A really minor criticism: It would be nice if the vendor offered different colors on the case, so it's easier to see. This is easy to fix for me, using fabric markers. Why I give it four stars and not five: The slot to attach to your BCD webbing is really tight for 2" webbing--it's a major chore getting the case on one of your BCD straps. Should have given a bit more slack!

I got this to replace a cheaper version with regular steel blades that began rusting after its very first dive. This cutter has ceramic blades which are very sharp and won't rust. The blades will become dull over time, so it's nice that they include an extra set of blades. It would be nice to know if Divetec sells just the replacement blades. The body of the cutter is made from aluminum. From the product photos it appeared to me that it was painted pink, but it's actually red. The body is sturdy and has a finger hole for assisting with cutting. The hole itself isn't very big, however, and may not be large enough for someone with big hands who's also wearing neoprene gloves, as one does when diving. The sheath that's included initially caused me some skepticism. The straps on the back did not appear large enough to fit on a standard two inch webbing strap and I wasn't certain how I was going to attach this to my buoyancy compensator. However, this turned out to be an optical illusion (or I'm just not good at estimating lengths. My wife says its the latter...) because it does fit fairly easily.Bottom line: this is a good quality and potentially life saving tool. Recommended.
