Anything better requires a special case, this holds pretty much any phone well during rides. Very sturdy and easy to place/remove the phone.

I intended to review this months ago but never got around to it. The short story is it gets five stars and I'd like to commend the mfr on a quality product that works better than I could have expected. This season I began riding gran fondos. After continually getting lost, I put OSMAND on my Samsung Galaxy and downloaded the GPX file before each ride. The phone doesn't do much good in my pocket, so I bought the Delta caddy. Strapped a http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002AC1L7M/ref=cm_cr_ryp_prd_ttl_sol_0 to the bottom of the caddy and I never had to worry about the battery running low. The setup worked well. Wrapped the phone and Airlink in plastic during wet weather and everything seemed to stay dry. This August I was on a fondo, hit a road hazard, and went over the handlebar. Hard. Briefly, I didn't fare well. The bike was damaged. Meanwhile, the cradle stayed on the bike and the phone and battery were still secure in the cradle; not a scratch. I appreciated having the phone with me during my hospital stay.I used to carry the phone in my jersey pocket. The accident taught me that if you land on your back, whatever you have in your pocket is going to be driven into it. For now on, the phone has a permanent place in the caddy and I will never carry anything harder than a tube in my pockets.

Recently got an Otter Box case for my iPhone and needed to find a new holder for my bicycle. For the most part, I think this product is great. I got the "Android" version because the iPhone version would not be large enough with the Otter case. First, the fit is not perfect. The Otter case is still just slightly too big for the phone to fit perfect. However, it IS big enough to hold my phone securely. In fact, very securely. Before mounting it on my bike, I put the phone in, turned the holder upside down and tried my best to shake it out of the holder. No doing... it was staying put. Also, extremely easy to get the phone in and out. Much quicker than the holder I have been using which is designed specifically for the iPhone with no case around it. I also feel like the phone is much better protected now when I ride. Big plus.My only minor complaint is that the stem cap installment was not perfect for my bike (I have a mid-priced endurance road bike). Not sure what type of bike they expected this to be installed on, but their included screw was not right for my Fuji. I was able to use the screw from my previous holder, but it was slightly too wide for the new mount, so it took some effort to get the screw through it and mounted to my bike.I think this product would become very popular very quickly if they provided just a couple more size options. The height and width were both fine for the Otter box, by the way. It is the depth that does not fit perfect.Overall, I think it's a great product for a very reasonable price. As always, Amazon has done an amazing job with customer service (price and shipping). I've placed hundreds of orders with Amazon now for dozens and dozens of different products and not one time have they gotten my order wrong or had a major delay in shipping.

This is not that easy to install. And once you do install it, putting the iPhone 6 in it can be a bit frustrating as the tongs keep sliding out of the tracks, and aligning them to get them back in is not easy. The plastic seems a bit flimsy too.Regardless, it does hold my phone well, the cushion stickers are good for absorbing some of the vibration and it can easily be positioned for best viewing of the screen. This product needs some work to make it easier to place and remove the phone.

I've been using this mount for about 3 months now. The reason I chose this mount over another one was because my handlebars are oversized in the center where they attach to the stem, but standard sized everywhere the bar tape goes. This means there's a ~2 inch section on either side of the stem that's conically shaped, and that makes it all but impossible to mount anything there. I moved my headlight to a fork crown mount, but later I decided I wanted to mount my phone on my handlebars. This mount, because it actually attaches to to the headset (replaces the headset cap), works well for me.To install the mount, remove your headset cap and replace it with the included cap. Attach the phone mount to the new cap at whatever angle you like. Done.To insert your phone into the mount, you put the top of the phone in first, then push it up against the elastic bands until you can fit the bottom of the phone in. It seems to be a pretty solid design, but I do worry about the elastic bands wearing out eventually.I have a Samsung Galaxy S3 in a small case. It fits well in this mount, but I'd worry about any phone that's much bigger. When the S3 is in this mount, I can access all the ports and controls (entire screen, home button, volume/lock buttons, charging and headphone ports) except for the back and menu buttons below the screen. The mount does shade the ambient light sensor above the screen, so if you want any chance at reading the screen in full sunlight, turn off auto screen brightness and crank it all the way up manually. The phone seems to be held in place very well. The mount does flex some, which seems to be by design. The packaging does say "not for off road use," so I usually remove my phone from the mount when I go over very rough roads or off road. My phone has only fallen out once. That was as I was going over a highway rumble strip at around 15mph. (road bike, 32mm tires) To be fair, I'm not sure I had put the phone back in the mount correctly. This mount has been extremely helpful in navigating unfamiliar areas with google maps. I can see on-screen directions, and I can hear spoken directions unless I'm doing over 25-30mph.Summary: Inexpensive, lightweight, secure phone mount. A good alternative to a handlebar mount.UPDATE May 2015: The Smartphone Caddy is still running just fine. I've been using it for several hours each week on commutes and it's been great. However, I just got a Motorola Droid Turbo, which is larger than my Galaxy S3 even with no case. The Turbo fits in this "regular" size mount just barely, but if I'm not careful it'll open the mount past its limits and I'll have to re-insert the plastic sliders. Now I'm considering buying the larger version of the same mount.

I'm actually rating the extra large caddy. I have a BlackBerry Passport and had to give this one to a coworker because it's not wide enough. Amazon doesn't sell the extra large one so I bought it at MEC. They both have the same design so my review applies to this one as well.Been using it since early August with no issue what so ever, Phone is held tight and can't be any easier to install/remove. Simply pull down the lever on the back and push it toward the bottom of the caddy. The bottom part will lower, allowing you to insert/remove your phone. Let the lever go and the bungee cords will retract the bottom piece in place, snug fitting your phone. Push the lever up to lock in place. That's it!I did NOT get a discount for my review
