I learned to love wine while working as a waiter in high end restaurants years ago. At first, it was because I realized that, if I wanted to make better money/tips, I needed to learn wine. The real, long-term lesson that I took with me was that I loved great wine — and I kind of hated waiting tables!The waiter's corkscrew is kind of a perfect tool, it's simple, convenient and it does its job extremely well when used properly. When I look for a waiter's corkscrew, there are three specific features that I require, a teflon covered worm (the screw thing), the other is a two-stage lever and the third one is a high quality, well shaped (preferably curved) foil cutting blade. This corkscrew obviously has all three.Now you can find inexpensive corkscrews that fulfill those requirements but I wanted something that was beautiful as well as functional. This one has all the specifics that I wanted, is beautiful and feels very good in the hand.I can't recommend this highly enough!

I purchased this corkscrew to replace an older corkscrew. I was attracted by the rosewood handle and steel construction. It's nicely designed and easy to use once you get used to the features. I'm of two minds about the teflon-coated worm. It's not as sharp as an uncoated worm so it's slightly harder to penetrate a cork. However it operates smoothly after you get it started.

I have been through a bunch of corkscrews of every conceivable design. They always break, sometimes quickly. This product has outlasted any 3 of the other corkscrews I have used. I purchased it 5 years ago and it still looks and works like brand new.

Smooth Dragon feels good in My hand. This is well made. The hinges are all just right, not loose, not too tight. This is double hinged and not spring assisted. I am not, at all, a fan of the spring assisted double hinge. I am putting this Smooth Dragon in each car and My pocket. For the very easy to handle price this will be a great gift for anyone thorough out the year. I can think of a birthday coming up this month and a dinner invitation. Giving this as a gift is an easy way to look good. TW

I've been using this corkscrew for 3 years. Look no further. It's a great product! Feels great in your hand, works well, holding up well after 3 years. I always get bumbed when I can't find it and need to use a different corkscrew to open a bottle. Worth the $18!

When my rodent (I won't insult rabbits) wine opener failed (again), I knew I had to go with an Old Faithful, but I had misplaced my waiters corkscrew. Time to get a new one.It arrived a couple days later and as soon as I took it out of the box I knew I had made a good purchase. It is heavy and well constructed, not like the three dollar ones you get at the grocery store. I wasted no time opening a bottle of red wine - just to test the opener, of course. It worked flawlessly, and the rosewood handle gives it a classy look.
