My system: iMac 2 gHz Intel Core 2 duo with 4GB RAM & using Logic Express 8. Plug & Play - no need for drivers. Just a few steps in Logic to recognize and done! Works like a charm. Fader is top-end and very very responsive. Buttons and pan knob feel sturdy and case is good thick plastic. Intuitive layout of the controllers and I'm looking forward to trying the footswitch for punching in audio (as any recording musician knows it's hard to get that "perfect" take so easily fixing a funky note or passage is a god-sent). "User" & "Output" button doesn't work with Logic but several buttons have other attributes ("Proj" switches automation view, for instance). Uses Mackie HUI emulation for Logic and Pro Tools. Perhaps future firmware updates and Logic Express 9 will make it more native-mode. For less than [...], you get a nice control surface for the humble home recording musician. If you want more Pro, go with a Mackie, higher-end ProSonus or M-audio. I liked it was USB - just plug it directly into computer's native USB port. PDF manual was corrupted on CD (tried to open on Mac and Windows machines) so I down-loaded from site. [...]

Was totally excited to have gotten this up and running yesterday with Presonus Studio One 2. I wanted to go beyond just using my mouse for all recording functions.Pros: This is a killer no-nonsense controller for enhanced music productivity. All advertised items work exactly as listed. 100mm fader is silky smooth (I don't need the motorized function but as tested, it works great) . Backlit buttons are a really nice touch for dimly lit studios. Record arming, play, mute, etc all light up when engaged. Channel status Indicator lights change with each channel change. Super great buy for a small footprint recording controller. You can get a lot more done beyond your current mouse driven functionality with this controller. Much of what is on the controller can be done on the qwerty keyboard however, unless you have remembered the keystrokes or have a DAW template or dedicated qwerty keyboard to control your DAW, the FaderPort will definitely speed things up especially if you have the controller sitting near or atop your MIDI controller keyboard. Tracking vocals/live audio and MIDI tracks with this controller is a joy.Cons: Transport and function buttons don't have the typical console button feel i.e. Yamaha AW4416 or some older Tascam products. Buttons hard click like a very heavy mouse button. These I suppose are taste gripes versus actual functionality cons.

I'm using the FaderPort with Pro Tools. I found the setup with this hardware was very simple. I think it took me all of 10 seconds to get up and running. The fader is wonderful to work with. The weight/resistance is just about right. It's certainly heads above anything I've ever had my hands on previously aside from an actual analog board. The pan pot is not ideal if your intended use is automation. The pan pot is just like most of Presonus' other pots in that it is indented. To go from extreme left to extreme right it requires at least a couple of twists before you get to the other side. It would be great to see Presonus revise this design without an indented pan pot but with that said it does has it's benefits. With the hard stops it allows you precisely choose your fixed pan position fairly quickly and very accurately, if your not a LCR type of engineer. The buttons seem very adequate. I don't foresee any issues arising with them. It's convenient to have the transport controls as well as the mix and project window shortcuts and off course the read, write, touch and latch controls for quickly getting work done. Unfortunately, it's use with Pro Tools is somewhat limited due to the fact that Avid loves to handicap third party manufactures but, I've seen some of the ways you can customize this little gem to work even better for your own personal workflow and needs in other DAWs and it looks like it could be a game changer in terms of efficiency in the right hands. Overall great product with the only glaring flaw being the pan pots inability to do some really dramatic on the fly automation. You're better off drawing in the wild pan automation in your DAW.

The motor drive slider works perfectly with the DAW. I use Cubase and now I can focus on playing the instrument with the Controller next to me. When switching from one track to another in the DAW, the fader moves to the recorded level as it should. There is no lagging. It is way more convenient than using the mouse and keyboard. Highly recommended.

Being a blind user of Cubase, the most inaccessible DAW in the world, this solidly built piece of kit is a life saver. I no longer have to try and remember each track level as this does it all for me. Changing levels with every different track selection. Yes, the buttons are a bit clicks but for me this is great as it gives me confidence that I have actually pressed a button.Considering the price, it is well within budget when compared to other motorised fader units and as there is only one fader, o am not in danger of knocking any other channels out of sync.A great buy in my opinion
