The first thing I wanted to know for sure when I received these fittings was to make sure they are actually stainless steel. The old standby magnet test is as easy of a way to check as any.You can check if stainless steel is magnetic using the following methods:1) Use a refrigerator magnet: If it sticks, it is likely ferritic or martensitic stainless steel; if it doesn't stick, it is likely austenitic stainless steel.2) Look for codes or rust: Another way to determine if something is made of stainless steel is to look for a code or check for rust.3) Crystal structure: Stainless steel is magnetic if it has a martensite or ferrite crystal structure; if it has an austenite structure, it will not be magnetic.I will be putting the fittings to use this week, and will be able to tell more about leakage and overall ease of use at that time. So far so good, and reasonably priced.
