I bought this to replace numerous balances and was disappointed that the tip of the tool had some extra metal and would not fit into the balance clip. I had to file quite a bit off, and it still doesn't fit all the way in as it should. It still worked after filing, but I would recommend ordering a higher quality product.

I honestly don't even use this for windows, I found it is pretty good for removing hair from tub drains. Twist it like you would on the window, pull the hair out of the drain, with a gloved hand just slide the hair off the hook

As others have stated, the tip is a bit too long to remove from the end of the balance spring once it is seated back in the window. I had to trim about 1/8" off with grinder, then it worked perfectly to fit into opening to retrieve and release the springs. Was able to pull out and re-grease balance springs and retention on multiple windows after modification.
