I replaced the screen on one of my windows, as it had been torn by pets. This spline was perfect... it's a little thinner than the usual which was important because I was installing a thicker screening material in the door (which was advertised to withstand the abuse my cats give it). Worked perfectly and was a breeze to install in minutes.

I have found that the recommended spline diameter can sometimes result in a screen that, while it will hold, can easily be pushed out of the frame by hand. A thicker spline is a BIT more difficult to install with the tool - you need to stretch it out a bit and/or put more pressure on the tool. But the result will be a screen that holds firm and tight. When doing your screen, work on a level, flat surface. It helps to have someone aid in holding the screen at one end of the frame. Pull it so it is snug and without snags, but be careful not to stretch it with too much force. The screen can tear easily if you over-do it. Remember, too, that that the movement of the spline into the channel will take up some additional slack. The nice thing about re-screening, is that it is very forgiving. If you are not satisfied, carefully pull the spline out and give it a second try.

Worked as advertized. Would have been easier to re-screen the window frame if I could have found the right tool which I own. But, did ok with a disk and screw driver.

Ok value however found cheaper ones after purchased. I bought the smaller size .120 recommended to use for pets screen per Amazon and it was a lil small. Should of stayed with standard size 140. The product is fine otherwise. Bought another cheaper larger spline works fine now. Nothing wrong with the spline itself was just wrong size they recommended.

Old screen on left, new screen with this spline on the right. As a woman I’d never fixed a screen but I tried for like 10hrs total to fit a bigger spline in & it would not go! I gave up, then I saw this was half that size & the spline went right in no problem easy as can be! I’ve done like 6 screens now I’m a pro. I think there’s enough to do 2 windows with the amount of spline in 1 pack.

I was installing Suntex 80 which is twice as thick as normal fiberglass screen. It requires the thinnest spline you can find to install in the frame (New York Wire 5/16").Lowes had New York Wire and Phifer .125 (very slightly larger hollow core, more ribs, very slightly longer ribs) for about $4 a bag and it was hard to install. This .120 spline still was an effort to install but went in easier while still holding the screen in tightly. It was also half the cost. Before installing if you held the two sizes of spline side by side in your hand you would notice the differences. After installing you would need strong light and a magnifying glass to tell the difference. My only regret is that I bought 4 bags of .125 spline at before I ordered the rest online. If I had used .120 from the start I would have saved almost $10 and some sweat and effort. At the cost of starting the project a few days later.

I bought this spline when replacing the screen on a patio sliding screen door. Works as intended. I didn’t notice any obvious flaws or weak points in the spline during application. I also had a few feet left when done with the screen door which was nice, I’m saving it for when I redo a window.

My cat destroyed screen mesh. This mesh replacement advertised as pet resistant. Replacement mesh more tricky to handle with installation as it is thicker than original mesh. However two years later mesh has stood up very well and appears “ immune “ to my cat’s best efforts. 😀
