What I was trying to fix?I wanted my door to close snugly without it rattle back and forth. I also needed the smart lock to be able to lock without having to push the door closed.Problems I ran into:The plate is definitely longer than my traditional plate. I had to use a wood chisel to knock out some of the wood. I traced the plate then chiseled out the wood. It was relatively easy. The second problem I ran into was that I had to position the plate quite bit to the back of the frame. Meaning when I close the door, the door would have hit the wood frame first before it hit the strike plate. So I re-positioned it more towards the front and hope for the best. Third problem I ran into was the screws. The screws were quite long and I got to a point where I felt resistance and didn't want to drill in further. So I opted for shorter screws which i did have some on hand. Fourth problem, the locking plate does sit flush with the striking plate if you have a flush screw. Unfortunately, the screws I had wasn't flush so stuck out a bit which hit the door everytime I tried to close. I could have fixed this by running to the hardware store but I ended up forgoing the locking plate. I screw directly to the striking plate and it worked!Door closes snugly, there is very little play when I pull on the knob, and my smart lock didn't need additional assistance to lock on its own.Overall, I did have to customized it for my needs but the design was sound and it works. The plate does feels solid and looks great. Price was fantastic. As long as you understand this isn't a drop in plate and you will need to customize it to your fit, you should be good.

I purchased this specifically for the two spaces that go under the plate. We have an interior door that won't latch in the winter due to less moisture in the wood. It barley latched in the summer. This part has two small spacers (perfect size) that fit between the plate and the door frame.I used those spaces on my existing latch. Worked great and my issue was fixed in less then 10 min.

Had to fix an improperly cut metal door frame in my apartment. Latch wouldn’t catch. The width of this product made for a cheap and easy fix allowing for room for error.

Product does work as far as being adjustable, but buyers should be aware that this product is larger than your existing strike plate. It has the screw hole spacing of a deadbolt plate, so you will either have to get a chisel and enlarge your plate mortise, or if your door has enough gap between the door and jamb and you don't really care how it looks, you can just screw this flat on the jamb. It will protrude out from the jamb about 3/16". This is what I did and it works fine. Also, the screws that come with it are about 1.75" long - much longer than normal strike plate screws. I'm sure this is because the plate has to be held tight to keep it's adjusted setting, but if you don't pre-drill for these screws you will almost certainly break them when tightening, especially in hardwood.

My door was getting harder and harder to close and wouldn’t latch with the old strike plate. The adjustability on this was the perfect solution for me and the door closes much more securely now

this product is a life saver for a metal door jamb! I installed foam weather stripping on my door jamb and the door no closed! this adjustable door strike enable me to fine tune the door closure so that an excellent closure was achieved without having to slam the door. Due to space limitations, I installed the adjustable strike without the two locking tabs and found that by tightening the screws I was able to secure the striker in place without any problems.

The embossed groves have the holding power of cold butter.I have this adjustable plate on the door between the house and the garage, use the door dozens of times per day to get wood for the stove. After a week of use the once tight plate has slipped to the loosest position, held by the screws only. Screws still tight.Don't waste your money.

When i put my new outside door 2 weeks ago, i put my "regular" strike plate a little too tight (amateur) and the door was hard to close, it needed a big swing, now with this one, you can close it with one finger and it sits tight on the weather strip! Take your time to ajust it right and you wont believe how good your door with close perfectly! Will buy again for sure!

It has washer-like things with notches in them, to assumeably make adjustments easy. But they are so cheap, the screw heads pull right through them. Bottom line is, you don't need them for the strike plate to be adjustable...so if you buy these, save the aggrevation and just toss those in the bin to start with.

Used this solution to fix a poorly installed patio door strike plate, results are flimsy at best, maybe due to weakened jamb structure on an older door. Best suited for an interior application/light duty. This said, still way cheaper than replacing a $1500 door set. It'll do for now.
