Genuine Chamois have unique properties that dry and shine surfaces courtesy of the traditional oil tannage process which forms soaps within the sheepskin. The sheepskin itself is unique, with a naturally open fibre structure that is not found in any other skins. Imitators often use deer or goat skin, these cloths look similar, but fail to replicate the unique properties of a genuine sheepskin chamois leather. Finally, the unique tanning process uses Cod fish oil which is fixed into the sheepskin making it soft and durable.

My old leather chamois were developing holes and tears so I ordered two different synthetic chamois. They worked fine and seem to hold up better than the natural leather chamois, but I've been wanting to go back to natural chamois, as I feel it does a better job overall in quickly and safely absorbing water.This chamois is a quality product. The thickness is even throughout. The texture is soft and supple. There is a bit of give and stretchiness to it. Also, there is a definite scent which goes away soon after the first use.Its too cold where I live to wash my car now, but I did rinse the chamois in warm water. It easily absorbs water and the color becomes much darker. I try to squeeze out the water without wringing (twisting) it, since that can weaken it and damage it over time. I used to always do that and wondered why they wouldn't last long. Ideally, you'd have one of the those two-roller devices that you crank as you feed in a wet rag or chamois, ha-ha!I always rinse it out after each use and let it hang to dry out of the sun. The product label instructs to use a mild hand soap prior to rinsing to remove any impurities that are imbedded.I think this is a good value for what you get. Real chamois isn't cheap, but it works great and will last for 2-3 years, which seems reasonable to me. I'm really happy with this purchase and would recommend it to friends and family.

It is smoother surfaced than the picture in the listings shows which is good. That picture does not accurately reflect this product unless it is under many times magnification, which the package picture does not reflect. This is much thinner, and smoother, as expected. That picture shows suede, not chamois.There is some slight difference in thickness from side to side, also not unexpected for a natural product. I think the square footage is pretty accurate, bit it is not really possible for me to measure an irregularly shaped piece like this. But I am more inclined to say that this is more than 4.5 sq ft.The smell when first opened is quite noticeable and not pleasant. I have not wet it yet to see if it will go away, though another reviewer said that it will.I look forward to good long use from this.As a Vine reviewer I try to provide good information. My scale:Most things will start at 4 stars.It gets that extra star only if it is outstanding.It loses stars for issues- bad sizing, poor quality.One star if is is not suitable for purpose or for gross misrepresentation.

Now this soaks up the water. This is now my go to for the finish dry. Leaves no streaks or fibers of any kind. Soft and durable. It does stiffen after its been wet but just a bit of moisture and its right back. It does stain easy but this is only for drying and nothing else. Great finishing towel.

I love these large chamois. I really didn't know how much they added to the look of your car after washing. This thing soaks up water and eliminates water drops. It's soft and durable. I like the large size because it easily handles the hood and trunk. This chamois will really up your washing game and make your car look great. I highly recommend it.

I'm pleased with this chamois. I'm picky about my cars and prefer to only use a natural chamois, such as this one, to dry my vehicles after a wash. There's countless imitation products on the market claiming to be "shammys" and this isn't that - it's the real-deal, and it works great. It's highly absorbent, it will not scratch your paint so long as you keep it clean, and it works excellent. This is what the pros use, and it's what I use to keep my cars looking like new.I'd buy this again - it's what you want if you want pro-level results.Recommended.
