I used this to replace a broken non-locking 1970s-era dipstick on a Chevy pickup. All I needed was the dipstick itself, but couldn't find one with the proper length so bought this complete assembly. However, the mounting tab is designed to mount to a different bell-housing bolt on my 350 V-8 -- one that's higher and very close to the firewall. Even after bending the tab, I still couldn't get the bracket hole to line up with the bell-housing hole. I finally gave up and mounted the tube to a 3/8-16 bolt hole on the back of the cylinder head using a 3/4 inch cable clamp and a 1/2 inch stand-off. I may end up using a shorter stand-off. Also had to slightly re-route new wiring I had just installed. Won't be able to check the bottom seal for leaks until I start the engine in a few days, but it looks to be a tight fit. At the top end I like the the locking feature, where latching the "over center" lever expands a rubber seal to tightly fit the housing.

I've dealt with a lot of aftermarket parts and usually the ones they say are direct fit don't fit wthout a lot of screwing around. This tube and dipstick both look great and fit perfectly with a better than new seal to the transmission. All in all very happy with this part

Staying leak free so far!Tube contours fit the original location fairly well, with the locking end of the tube being vertical; as opposed to sloping forward. ......Which may, or may not be important?Like others have implied; the whole assembly could be more heavy duty!!The mounting tab seems too thin! However it does bend easily to match up with a higher bolt on a classic SBC bell housing. One could add another strap.Also; pushing the tube into the seal might be much easier if the transmission end of the tube was slightly rolled inward, in the way GM formed their tubes. As some difficulty was experienced coaxing this tube into the boot, EVEN when flooded with transmission fluid.!!All in all; a workable upgrade from earlier O-ring style TH350 dipstick tubes.

Does not work for a pickup not bent properly and is way too short maybe meant for a car but add says will work for pickup truck
