I purchased this a year ago and it's still going strong and I use it pretty much every day. I still have a lot of old-time CDs ... it's just so easy to pop into the cd player. I just needed something simple for a change. It's small and blends right in, not taking up much room.I have it plugged in, but you could also use batteries in make it portable. I originally bought it to help cover up some of my neighbor's noise. I live in a high-rise bldg., with a loud neighbor above me. The bass isn't booming, which is good, as I don't want to annoy my own next door neighbors. I got it for the purpose of trying to distract from the neighbor's noise & then discovered I just like listening to music all the time anyways.Is it the best sound quality? No, but you wouldn't expect it to be. But if you just want a good basic device that is simple to use & sounds pretty good for a low price, then I would recommend this small reliable CD player. The controls are in the back, so it's a little harder to get to them, but it's not a major deal.- Still working just as good - a year later - with constant use.- 5 stars. Recommended.

The PROSCAN Elite Portable CD Boombox with AM/FM Radio (Black) I found to be a very nice unit that is easy to operate and doesn't take up a lot of space. The sound quality and volume are good, the controls are simple, and it's attractive. I bought this more to play my collection of CD's on the go, and it can be used with 6 C batteries or the enclosed AC power cord, making it very versatile. It does not have a deep bass sound, and there are no sound adjustments. And that's fine because I didn't expect it to compete with my home stereo system. Overall, I'm pleased with the boom box, and it's a keeper for me.

terrible. i am not usually the type of person to complain, but this thing is a piece of junk. i bought it for my baby daughters room to be able to play music quietly in her room. it gets very minimal use and mainly sits on a clean shelf. however since i bought it, it seem just about every time I use it the CD skips like crazy. even when the volume is turned way down. I've tried changing CDs - mixing "regular" CDs with CD's I've burned myself and it doesn't seem to matter. they all skip. it's really annoying and I wish I never bought this as it has been a complete waste of money. it's too late to return it so basically it sits on her shelf and i use it to listen to the radio. if i hadn't just had a new baby I would have found time and energy to return this within the refund period. but, too late for me! i hope this review can help someone else! do not recommend!

Sound quality is average. It is a nice compact side, good for a night table. Looks nice but the buttons are hard to determine which button does what. As for the radio portion, I wish it had a digital display instead of a rotary dial. Quality seems average and easy to use.
