This works well when held near a bright light or if you can get a flashlight directed right at it. I was impressed. I purchased some other versions for a similar price point, and this worked the best for me.

Does not gather sufficient light to allow reasonable inspection of bore--have an older clear Lucite bore illuminator that works much better. Like the idea of this being able to double as chamber safety flag, but could not get to slip into ANY of my 9mm's (shaft too long).

I use this on two 12 ga barrels, 18" and 20". I use it on both sides to fully see every angle. Light cleaning on infrequently shot home defense gun and range toy. If you're cleaning longer barrels, or need to see every detail, get a powered light.
