For the price this is an excellent reed holder. It looks and works well, and holds reeds safely. What I wonder about could be considered nits, but... - why not have a holder for ten reeds as that is a common box size? - when reeds are inserted fully, they can be difficult to remove; suggest leaving 1-2mm of reed protruding beyond edge of holder to avoid issues. A definitive way to disengage the reed hold-down would solve this.

I have an older version of this same reed case which I really like and have used for years. I needed another one for getting new reeds broken in and into my rotation (12 spaces for all of your reeds just isn't nearly enough). The case is a little bit different color and different shape as compared to the one I already had. This one is totally black and has a shiny surface.I was a bit worried that they had significantly changed the case, since other reviewers mentioned that the space for reeds wasn't long enough and their reeds were getting pinched at the tip. I'm not sure if they received a different case than the one I got, but mine is perfect--just like my previous model. It has no trouble fitting soprano (B-flat/A) clarinet reeds, and there is even room to spare in the length. I usually use Vandoren V-12 reeds, but I have some Rico's which would also fit in the case, as they are the same length as the V-12's (all soprano reeds tend to be about the same length). This is a great case because it holds the reeds down flat, and tightly. This is essential to making sure your reeds stay flat and do not warp at the tip while not in use. I bought a bigger case a few months ago and am not as pleased with it as this one, because the reeds fit so snugly in the protec case and therefore don't warp. Great case--holds 12 reeds.

I've used this product for several months, and I'm overall pleased with it. However, at $20.95 (priced during this writing) it's overpriced. $5-$10 would be more reasonable for this product. Still, it does the job and keeps my reeds in tact. Recommended, but look for it at a lower price.

I got this after my son's clarinet teacher told me his reads were molding and his previous case. Gross. This was what she recommended and so far it has had great quality for what we paid. It's small enough to fit in his case. And we haven't seen any molding. Would definitely buy again as it is superior performance to what we had prior.

I'm getting back into playing the clarinet after 20 years. I used to have a Vandoren reed case with the little desiccant tube in it... but they don't make it anymore. They now have a similar plastic reed case that just holds 8 reeds. This one holds 12 reeds and it's about half of the cost of the Vandoren one. So which should I choose? There's no obvious advantage to the other one, so I went with this one from Protec.Unless you're truly adverse to fingerprints since this one has a glossy finish and the Vandoren reed case has a matte finish... just go with this one.

This seems like an acceptable reed case for many reeds, but I use Legere European Cut and they are too wide for the slots, threw away the packaging or else I would have returned it.

Great case. A little hard to open and a little difficult to slide the reeds out for use. Great concept though and Great for storage. I believe it needs a couple tiny air holes added for ventilation though too.

Después de varios años de uso, está impecable. El material es de buena calidad, es muy cómodo para usarlo y caben un montón de cañas. Siempre es más bonito en madera, pero también bastante más caro así que por calidad/precio le pongo un 10.

Works well. A little expensive but does the job. Can be hard to remove reeds after they have been in the container for a while.
