Bought this for my boyfriend he didn't complain he used it for his musical needs

The power controller arrived by DHL from China and the box that covered the power controller was damaged. I had a dent in the top cover of the power controller and the rack mounting tabs on the right of the unit were bent in. If the power controller was placed in a thicker box for packing this would not have happened.At this point I opened the unit up to make sure that there was no internal damage before plugging it in. There was no damage to any of the PCBs. But all of the AC sockets are mislabeled, the N and L identifiers are reversed. Not only that but they are wired incorrectly too. I had decided not to return this power controller since I had already opened it up. There happens to be a screw holding the cover in the front middle behind the plastic smoked display panel. That smoked display panel has adhesive and even after hearing it was problematic to remove.But being an electronics engineer I corrected the wiring before plugging in the unit. There is absolutely no surge protection in this device so I can't recommend the purchase of this unit, it is mislabeled in the description. The power controller is basically a power strip with 8 individual AC sockets that have a delay turn on. You can switch each AC outlet off or on as you desire with the front panel momentary switches. The USB socket in the front is functional and has it's own power switch but is only rated at 200mA. The 5VDC regulator IC is rated at 500mA. The 2 front AC outlets are always on without any delay circuitry. All of the AC sockets can be turned off and on by the small rocker switch on the front right of the unit where my rack was damaged or by the large 63 Amp circuit breaker sticking out on the front right.On to the digital displays; the AC power is displayed by red LEDs and mine reads 2 volts too high. The LEDs do not shut off unless you turn off the large 63 Amp breaker otherwise it is always on. Also there are 8 green LEDs over each of the 8 switches which are all lit as flashing dashes when the unit is off. When the power is turned on the LED dashes turn into numbers which correspond to each of the AC outlets that is switched on. These digits and dashes only shut off when the large 63 Amp breaker is switched off. The smaller rocker switch will not shut off any of the LEDs.As a power strip and switcher it does work after rewiring. The 8 internal relays seem to be decent quality and have the current capacity to switch high loads on/off. But the PCB does not look like it could handle as much current as the relays and AC sockets which is a bit of a shame. Also the relays are rated at 28VDC input but the power transformer is only putting out 12VDC. When using the USB as a phone charger and turning on all relays the voltage drops down to almost 9 volts. This causes the relays to turn off! Bad design all around.I also find it crazy that they would install such a large circuit breaker 63 Amps that has more current than the breaker panel in the average home (25-30 Amps). It is also way more than a 120VAC NEMA plug can carry. So if there happens to be an AC short circuit in one of the instruments plugged in to this power controller it will probably damage the PCB that the AC sockets are connected to, the breaker won't trip off until it reaches over 63 Amps! So basically it has no power protection. I will be addressing these issues myself since I am able to, but I can't recommend this power controller to anyone!Update; I updated all the wiring scratched off the identifiers on the AC sockets, removed the weak 12 volt transformer and the 500mA 5VDC voltage regulator. I installed a 20VDC power supply circuit to manage the 28VDC relays better and I installed a 1.5A 5VDC voltage regulator so the front USB port can actually charge some electronics.I am not happy with all the work I invested in this power switcher and I should have just returned it back to Amazon as they are great about that. But on the other hand the switcher does work well after all of my modifications. But do yourself a favor and don't go near this product.Update: The seller contacted me and apologized for the issues with the switcher. They did make everything right to satisfy me.The seller is excellent 👌.

Every piece of electronics you control on a single switch increases the chance of damage from an inrush of current to the internal components. Other situations may starve devices as they boot up leaving them most likely unresponsive. This rack-mounted boss has eight outlets that turn on one after the other with a few seconds delay each step. The unit is well made and has a seriously big-azz power cable. The segmented displays are bright and clear and the industrial panel-style circuit breaker right up front is a total flex.It's usually hard to find a feature-for-feature match to compare devices exactly. With this device, I looked at the features and the price point at which they appear in similar rack-mounts. I find this unit to be a good deal and it has very good features for the price. These unglamorous purchases are occasionally necessary as you accumulate gear for your endeavors. You should at least make those 'necessary' purchases wisely, and this unit is a trivial cost compared to what it protects.
