Product Description

Durability, Optimal Signal, & Lowest Possible Noise

4 points of contact for a secure connection

The Pure Tone jack tensioned design locks the plug securely in place and prevents the cable from wiggling. Over time, this action causes the metal tabs on a standard jack to become fatigued until they eventually fail; the Pure Tone Jack exerts equal pressure on all four sides resulting in a more solid connection with unrivaled durability.

The Pure Tone Difference

  • Greater surface area at all contact points creates a more stable connection
  • Securely locks cable in place
  • Full-contact design reduces metal fatigue on the jack
  • High-quality copper construction
  • Prevents crackle from wiggling cable

Four-sided Contact for Maximum Stability

Pure Tone Output Jack Line of 1/4" Jacks

Full Contact for Maximum Stability

Let's face it, the 1/4 inch Jack socket you're using in your guitar and your pedals was designed in the 19th Century for patching phone calls. The new Pure Tone jack makes those old crackly 1/4 inch jacks obsolete!

The Pure Tone jack contains dual tension grounds and dual positive tips for optimal signal and lowest possible noise. Greater surface area at all contact points creates a more stable connection, locking the cable securely in place and carrying more signal; as a result, high and low frequencies are greatly improved creating a much more balanced sound while eliminating frequency spikes. Most importantly, the Pure Tone Jack eliminates the infamous “crackle” noise caused by pressure grounds and fatigued metal tabs. The Pure Tone jack tensioned design locks the cable securely in place and the increased metal mass carries more signal.

Made from highly-conductive beryllium copper, the Pure Tone jack also allows for increased current handling at 500 volts for high current applications.

The 5 year old OEM jack on my Fender bass guitar was crackling. Upon inspection, the nickel finish on tab was worn away where it was contacted by the tip of the guitar cable plug. I bent the tab inwards to ensure a tighter connection, but with no improvement. So I found this Pure Tone replacement jack and was impressed that they had improved upon the standard mono plug design. So I replaced my old, worn out jack with a Pure Tone.I’ve included photos of the old jack next to the new one. As you can see, the plug tip contacts only one point on the old jack - you can see where the nickel coating has worn away at the point of contact. By contrast, the new jack has two opposing contact points for the plug tip, thus ‘locking in’ the plug tip. Also, the plug barrel (ground) on the old jack merely contacts the body of the jack - nothing locks it in place. By contrast, the Pure Tone has two additional tabs which grip the barrel of the plug and hold it firmly. As Pure Tone says, their jack has 4 contact points, instead of 1. You can feel the difference when plugging or unplugging your guitar cable. Instead of a quick slide and single click when you plug in, with the Pure Tone there are two clicks - one as the tip passes through the 2 short (ground) tabs and the second click as the tip is secured by the 2 long tabs. The materials and build quality appear as good, possibly better, than the OEM Fender jack. The body of the Pure Tone is the same diameter as the old jack, but overall the Pure Tone is a bit shorter and therefore more compact. I can’t imagine any difficulty with fit in a replacement situation. The solder flowed and nicely adhered to the electric contact tabs. The Pure Tone comes with a nut, a washer, and a 2nd nut for adjusting mounting height and locking the device to the mounting surface (in my case, the pick guard.) There is no lock washer. I’m not sure a lock washer is needed, but I re-used the old one just to be cautious. While as yet, I have no long term experience with this device, I was impressed with the quality and the upgraded design. The Pure Tone device does create a significantly more secure attachment for the guitar cable. Considering the importance of this particular connection, spending a extra buck or two is a worthy investment.

I put this off for a year, now I regret waiting just a day - replacing the standard output jack with one of these is going to be considered mandatory in the future, why these arent stock on higher end guitars is a mystery to me - getting the benefits of a substantially more secure jack means more confidence in your gear, reduces or eliminates noise generated from the jack connection, and (subjectively, and quite possibly objectively*) improves the quality and tone of your raw guitar signal.Pretty basic packaging, these do not come with any instructions or anything, and you better know how to solder. Depending on your guitar, and how much slack is available in the wiring, installation can range from a simple 5 minute job to a frustrating chore if you don't have enough wire to work comfortably, however, the jack itself is not to blame for any issues here. It took me 25 minutes to get my tools together, take old jack out, solder new one on, and put the tools away, a minimal investment in time.Testing this new jack on my Les Paul (compatible!) I was immediately impressed by how snug and secure the cable connection felt. Turning on my amp (ubiquitous Stage Right 15W Tube Combo), I felt instant gratification with the lack of noise caused by the old jack, and my guitar never sounded better - but since this was not a scientific test, no oscilloscope or spectrum analysis, I have no idea if this was a placebo effect or not, but to me my guitar had more headroom, cleaner, clearer signal, and simply more tone across its full range.I rarely leave Amazon reviews, but felt this was a must have upgrade for every electric guitar player - at around $6 per guitar, if you or someone you know can do the soldering, the cost/benefit ratio can not be beat. A few bucks for an improved connection alone would be worth it, but the signal and sound quality improvement makes it a necessity in all my guitars now. From now on this will be the first upgrade I put in all my guitars!*According to test results on their site, these Pure Tone jacks show improved signal strength and less noise, but I have not seen any third party confirmation

Easy to install. Good value for the money when you buy packs of multiples. Looks great, high quality and performs great. Really chomps down on your cable and doesn’t want to let go.

Definitely the best guitar output jack I’ve used. It makes great contact and has a strong grip on the plug. It takes much more effort to pull the guitar cable out reducing the risk of it coming out on accident. These are the only output jacks I will use. I’ve swapped all of my guitar output jacks with these.

could have had more thread length. used two rare earth magnets to position hole on top of E335 next to center wood block. attached very light wire to pull it through body and back. did it all through the F hole.
