I used this as a speed controller for a trolling motor on my fishing kayak. The trolling motor is a 36lbs thrust and it draws 29 amps at full blast, so this PWM as advertised should handle that no problem. Also, the wiring terminal connectors that it comes with are essentially for a toy. They are nowhere near heavy duty enough to handle anything near what this pwm is rated to handle. I didn’t check but I believe they are for 16 gauge wire. So I chunked them and used 10 gauge heat shrink terminals (that I had to modify to fit into the tiny slots on the PWM). All that aside it wasn’t terrible just annoying and time consuming. Finally got it hooked up and tried it and it worked great for a few minutes testing. I shut it off and went to work on other things for a few hours, went back to it and it didn’t work whatsoever. The screen would show the correct 1-100 reading when I turned the dial but it was not sending power to the trolling motor. Spent 10 minutes tracing wires and multimeter/test light testing everything and finally figured out that the PWM was the problem when testing at the pwm terminals. When turned on “forward” it should have put out positive and negative polarity on the corresponding terminals. Then “reverse” should have reversed that polarity. But when on “forward” it did not supply any power at all, and in “reverse” it would supply a hot to the - terminal but was not supplying ground to the + terminal.I don’t know what the heck happened to this thing. It worked great for a few minutes right after hooking it all up, then a couple hours later it didn’t work. It was not dropped or anything, it just sat on the table untouched. I looked it over very closely and cannot see anything wrong whatsoever. I cannot speak on longevity because I may have just gotten a bad egg because the reviews are mostly positive. I will not be ordering another one of these-I’ll pay some extra to get something of better quality. I hope I can get a refund.

Works as it should, the medal shroud has sharp edges, I removed it and filed down the edges. But for the price, I am pleased. No over heating issues. Paired with a waterproof box. It makes a perfect fit on the side of my kayak seat pouch for quick speed adjustment.

Works good so far with a 55lbs trolling motor.

I have 3 of these. Nice design easy to use. I control them from a PLC. The speed pot provide 0-5 volts DC to the controller. The direction switch is easily connected to a SPDT relay. Both easily supplied by a remote controller like a PLC and just like that you can control your motor remotely. Have not had any issues with any of my units.

Dought it will last long if pull 20amps or anywhere close to that or more for long, lasted maybe little over month on 12v 5ish amps draw for 20mins 2twice a day, 5-6 times a week
