Input Options

The PLMRA420 features gold-plated low-level RCA inputs for sources that use RCA-type connectors. If your marine receiver lacks RCA output jacks, you can connect speaker output leads to the high-level MOLEX inputs.

Input Level Control

Adjust the line level input for the least amount of distortion to match your source unit.

Bass Boost

Add a little low-end boost with selectable bass boost of up to approximately 18dB at 60Hz.

High- and Low-Pass Filters

Optimize the output to match your speakers exactly, using the variable high-pass and low-pass frequency controls.

Crossover Mode Selector

Route the output of the low-pass or high-pass filters or the full signal to the internal power amplifier, or the full range if preferred.

Protection

Protect the amp and your vehicle's electrical system from short circuit conditions with built-in fuse protection, along with overload, thermal and short circuit protection. LED lights indicate if the amp has gone into a protection mode. Finally, an anti-thump turn-on feature protects your speakers during power-up.

For the money, I'm not sure how anyone could complain about this amp. I installed this one to replace my old kenwood amp, which finally bit the dust. This one was simple to install and it very nicely powers my 10 inch sub and two 6.5 inch waketower speakers to go along with the house speakers in my boat which run through the head unit. It provides plenty of power. Clear and LOUD. I think anyone who gives this thing a negative review must not be thinking clearly about the price of this thing. Are there better marine amps out there? Of course, for 6 or 7 times the price of this one. Even if I have to replace this thing every two years, its less than 100 bucks! My only knock on it is that it doesn't have an input for my remote subwoofer control.

I was looking to do a budget stereo system upgrade on our new boat. After doing a lot of research I decided to buy the Pyle PLMRA420 amp along with 4 Pyle PLMR62 6.5” 2 way speakers. Including wiring I have a bit over $200 (amp was on sale for $100 and the speakers were $35.98 per pair) and a few hours of my time wrapped up in the system. The sound is excellent, the price point can’t be beat and the overall visuals of how the amp and speakers look is awesome. I’m going to add a set of wake tower speakers in the next week or so to complete my system. At that point I’ll run the four 6.5” speakers off of channels 1&2 and run the wake tower units off channels 3&4. I could probably leave the system the way it is now and be completely happy with the sound it puts out but I really to finish things off with a set of LED wake tower speakers. Take your time setting the amp up. It’s well worth the few extra minutes to get great sound quality in the end at an absolute bargain price point.Overall great bang for the buck.

I purchased this for my Lund 14 ft Aluminum Boat to go along with my Boss Audio MGR350B head unit and 2x Pyle 75w speakers, 2x 100 watt 6.5" speakers. I was satisfied with the stock performance of the speakers and head unit but the speakers just wouldn't get loud enough to hear when I was running the boat on full throttle. After installing the Pyle Amplifier I noticed an immediate gain in volume, bass, and overall performance. There are only 3 things I would change about the Amplifier. The power in terminals are very small and I had difficulty finding the proper terminal connectors to go with the 4AWG wire I was using ( MFG recommends min 6 AWG wire). The terminals are just too small to be connecting wiring this large. I had to take a 4AWG 1/4" Lug connector and slightly grind down the sides to get it to fit in the slot. The Amplifier is also fairly large in size and I found the lights on top of the unit to be a bit distracting and I wish I could turn them off because at night they can be very annoying. Also, the instruction booklet indicates that all the mounting screws and hardware are included but I didn't receive anything in the box. Other than those very minor issues ( the power input design being the worst issue) I would highly recommend this unit to anyone. Be sure to read the instructions very carefully and make sure you're using the proper size speakers and wiring them correctly otherwise you can damage your speakers/amp.

Based upon all the glowing reviews, I purchased this Pyle PLMRA420 1000 watt Hydra Elite Series amplifier. I knew Pyle had a poor reputation, and I knew it wasn't actually going to put out 1000 watts, but I was hoping I may get around 75 watts per channel for my 4 6.5" speakers. I figured at around $100, it was worth the gamble. The house won. lolPros:1. It's a good looking amp.2. It has nice connectors.3. Based on the size (and low actual power), it probably stays cool no matter how "hard" you push it.4. The "remote" wire works well and turned on the amp when the head unit comes on.Cons:1. I do not have the means to properly test how many watts this thing pushed to my speakers, but my guess would be around 25 useable watts. I have a Kenwood head unit, and when I disconnected the speakers from the Pyle and connected them directly to the head unit, the speakers were louder and more crisp. Yes, I did all the adjustments, turned up the gains, etc. I have an 8/2 wire ran directly to the battery. That's it, no other cons.Unfortunately, I was completely rebuilding my pontoon boat from the ground up, so this amp sat in a closet for months, so I couldn't return it.I'm not sure what these other people were smoking to give it so many glowing reviews.I did a youtube search showing actual power testing on Pyle Hydra Elite amps (couldn't find one for this specific model), but I was dumb enough not to do this BEFORE ordering this amp. One test on their 400 watt amp showed it delivered under 20 watts of usable power. LOLBottom line, if you want a really good looking amp with great connections at a very low price that produces hardly any power, this amp is perfect for you. So, if you have a head unit without any amp whatsoever, and your dog, who is very adverse to loud sounds, rides on your boat with you, this would be the PERFECT amp.
