Just tried this out with a cheap 100watt per channel (50 watts at 8 ohms I believe) mini amp in an open air space. I used a Harrison Labs 100Hz high pass filter to roll off the bottom, and the music did not distort at full blast. I turned it on, walked in front of it 10 steps (20 feet) and turned my head and quickly had to turn away because it was still painfully loud. I walked a total of 100 feet and turned around and it was just about comfortably loud. I had to run back to turn it off so the neighbors don't call the cops.I need to be able to cover the depth of a football field and I think two of these will absolutely do it.Regarding the sound quality, it's not pleasant. They run at 500Hz to 5KHz. Sound quality is not what these horns are for. Don't buy them thinking you're going to enjoy listening to music on them. They're for covering large areas with sirens or addressing the public in a big open space. They're meant to be mounted 20 feet up and cranked up really loud.UPDATE: These horns worked on the event I mentioned. 7 loud speakers and a pair of these plus cheap tweeters on two 200 watt amps crossed over with a digital mixer and dynamics compressor on each driver did the trick. No distortion, and delivered intelligible speech to an area two football fields in square footage. I actually used them a second time this past Saturday in a field roughly a football field and a half and they worked well there too, along with two 15" loud speakers. One negative thing I could say is that one of them came with the polarity backwards. Not sure how they screw something like that up and I didn't notice it until I tested an amp and hooked two of them in parallel. I wouldn't take a star off for that, it's not exactly a deal breaker, but you can't expect the quality control to be 100% I guess. I suggest you test for polarity if you're buying two or more of these and make sure they match so you don't get blind spots.

Bought this to compliment our security camera system so that we could make announcements when someone trespasses on our property and to let them know they were being recorded and the police were being called. I have it setup with a dialup interface and an inexpensive Pyle amp. The speaker works great and is loud enough for people to hear over our entire 20,000 square parking lot. Very happy with the value and quality and purchased a few more for the other sides of our building.

First, let me say that I have had some issues with other Pyle products but these speakers are good. Bought four of these for our small town 6 man football press box. We were attempting to use concert speakers but the other side of the field could not hear the announcer, especially on windy days. Now, everyone can hear. A couple of things to consider, these are 8 ohm speakers. In order to maximize the output of your amplifier without damaging it, your resistance (ohms) has to match the per channel resistance recommended for your amp. I have these hooked up so that the resistance at the amp is 3.7 ohms. The suggested resistance for the amp is 4 ohms but can go as low as 2 ohms. Getting the resistance correct at your amplifier is very important in order to protect your amp and maximize output. These speakers emphasize the mid and upper range of frequencies. They produce very little bass. If you want good fidelity, you will need to combine them with another speaker to provide bass. The sound goes out in a conical field expanding as you get farther away from the speaker. (think shotgun vs hand grenade if you understand ordinance) If your audience does not rest within the cone, they will not be able to hear the sound very well.

Bought it for my truck for my PA system and it works fine but it isn't as loud as I need it to be. Other people can't hear it well unless they got there windows down. But it is still kinda loud if your not around noisey areas.

I've had a pair of these for 1yr under my front bumper wired up to the radio pushing 50w to each pa & a 600w dual amp after awhile .. On radio could hear them A quarter-mile away & with amp 1 mile maybe further but I know at least a mile .. Pro very loud, pretty well build , weatherproof, they can take good abuse if used daily , Good when running on radio but really come alive with a amp bridged together at 4 ohms ( tip don't power over 150w at 4ohm when bridged ) ..Cons don't overpower too much , easy to break if handled inappropriately , they don't like bass at all because it will muffle the vocals best thing to do is at least have the frequency setting above 200 Hz min or bass blocker, pretty big in person so check space for you order .. Check on my video on YouTube 8" Pa Horns .. White s10 no amp on them when I made that video
