bloom its beauty
How does a prism create a rainbow?
When light moves from air into the glass of the prism, light refraction occurs. The design of the prism causes the light to change direction. A ray of light is made up of many wavelengths of light. Each wavelength passes through the prism with different resistance than the other light waves. The different wavelengths normally travel together but get dispersed passing through a prism and we can see them separately as a rainbow.

Show Your Children a Rainbow With Light Refraction
-
Step 1
Use a white paper or canvas and tack it to a wall across a room from a sunny window or a flashlight if there are no windows available. Make sure the canvas or paper is flat and smooth.
-
Step 2
Hold your prism in front of the background. Make sure to catch the light from the window. If using a flashlight, hold the prism in your non-dominant hand and the flashlight in your dominant hand. Turn on the flashlight and hold the prism in the light.
-
Step 3
At first, you only can get white light,so you need continue to twist and turn your prism in the light source until a corner of the triangle falls into the light beam.
-
Step 4
Light should then refract through the prism and create a rainbow on your background.

Use Your Prism To Create Unique Photography Effects
-
Looking for a photography prism for cool effects?
- Set your camera on manual focus and hold the prism close to the lens in the area of the frame the effect is desired.
- You can slowly move and rotate the prism to experiment with the different effects that can be created and how to achieve them.
- Do not look through the eyepiece of your camera when using a prism. The light can be intense enough to simulate looking at the sun. Instead, use the live view on your digital camera.
- Eventually, you will be able to create effects like below.
-
Create this cool Rainbow effect
- Turn one of the prism’s edges towards the camera.
- Move and rotate until the rainbows appear.
-
Make a Kaleidoscope picture
- Place the prism so one of its bases faces the lens.
- Find something to shoot.
- Cover as much of the lens as possible for best results.
-
Create Mirror, Ghost and Dreamy images
- Place the prism on the lens and move until you can see the reflections.
- Place the prism on different areas of the lens or change the orientation and angle to experiment further.
