our previous unit was overheating and turning off, so we purchased this... thus far it has worked great.

I bought a pool light and needed a low voltage transformer. I have learned a lot about low voltage lighting recently!!

I use it as the power source for my electric gate opener and it performs flawlessly

Nice little unit and easy to install wiring. Used to power string of about 40 LEDs for a couple of months. Seems to be a reliable, safe solution for replacing 120VAC incandescent lights.

I got this to run several 12V LED strips. I have two strips that will draw about 50 watts for each strip, so that's perfect for this power supply. I never max out my power supply, to help give them longer life. My rule of thumb, is never go over 80% of the power supply's rated output, and lower end power supplies (like this one), are frequently claimed to have a higher power rating than they really can handle. If you study electronics, you'll learn that the number one cause of failure in electronics is heat. So, if you use less power, the power supply will generate less heat, which will put less stress on the parts, and give you longer life out of it.My only complaint about this power supply, is their choice of colors for the line (AC) side of things. The DC side is perfect, with red and black wires, but the AC side may not be clear to novices. It even took me a few seconds to figure out their meaning. The ground wire is obvious, but what is ACL and ACN? ACL is for the line voltage, or the hot lead. ACN is for the neutral line. Polarity matters, so be sure you connect it properly.Ground - green or yellowAC Line/Hot - ACL brownAC Neutral - ACN blueThis 12 volt power supply is sealed, so it can be used in locations that may be less than ideal (wet), but be extra careful to make sure your electrical connections are also properly sealed and insulated. There is lots of power, to handle all but the biggest LED lighting projects, but don't overload it.If you're designing your own LED lighting from scratch, then I recommend you go with 24 volt LEDs and power supply, but if you're working with an existing system, and need 12 volts at a good power output, then I can recommend this power supply. Of course, this can be used for anything that needs 12 volts, but I mention LED lighting so much, because I that is what I'm using it for, and I think a majority of people buying this will too.

I needed a narrow power supply to fit inside an LED lit sign. I ordered this because it said it was 1.2" wide. What was sent was not the product shown at the top, but the "from the brand" product shown further down the page, which is 2" wide.
