The rings on this item are really well made. However, the netting has come untied in many places. What good is a heavy duty ring when the netting comes apart?

The hoops are solid and heavy coated metal, and the netting appears to be strong and uniform. This trap should work well, and last for a while. The rope it comes with seems weak, and not nearly long enough. The 2 buoys can be reused with a better rope. edit: I used this off of a pier, and the original rope was at least 10-15 feet too short. I suggest replacing it with a 100' rope (I used a 5/16" hollow braided polypro rope and it worked very well). The bait pouch and large metal "safety pin"-like attachment are good. Probably only use the metal pin for holding a chicken leg for bait, but may try to use the plastic mesh pouch to hold some chopped bait fish. edit: Not 100% sure if the pouch with frozen anchovies helped but the crabs were totally munching on the chicken drumstick. The plastic measuring tool is thin plastic, will probably break fast, and doesn't have the 4" gap needed for rock crab in California. Nice of them to include it, but not useful at all.

tried several times but nothing ever get caught in it or a few times the crabs swam away very fast as the basket was being pulled up. not sure how this open top crab pots is supposed to keep the crabs in when there’re really fast and the crab mentality doesn’t seem to work here
