I bought this reel for an extra rod to take two grandsons deep sea fishing, reel worked like it should, with zero problems. Grandson limited out with it!

I have several of these. I think probably the best reel for the money. Ultra smooth handles catfish and bass no problem. The ultra light and the 60 are just the doctor ordered.

Used this reel for a day. Sadly the handle somehow broke off. Luckily Amazon was happy to replace the reel. Despite not having many bearings, it was quite smooth. Had it on a 7' Med-Heavy Cherrywood for a budget build. When it broke, it did expose that the material is in fact graphite. I did notice a bit of pitting in the graphite so I am guessing it was a slight defect. Looking forward to using this reel regularly.Update: put the reel on my MH Ugly Stik Elite. Reel has held up nicely so far. Still very smooth. I run 20 lb braid on it. Mainly use for Texas rigs and some smaller moving baits. Drag is solid. Great bass reel for the price.

I had got one a few years back and it has been more then great. Just picked up another for a different rod. The only issue I've had in the last 4 years of using these reels was rust on the bearing causing a sqweek where the handle goes in alittle WD-40 fixed it right up. Cannot say enough about how good this reel is by far the best reel you can get for under 100$ let alone 20$ I would STRONGLY recommend.

I liked the size, not too small not too big. Just Right. Fits well on my Zebco 7ft Big Cat Rod. This is my 5th Quantum Optix. I have 1 Optix 80 2 Optix 60 and Two Optix 40. All well built. The 40 is for my Medium Rods.UPDATE. Awesome. Went to the Lake...this Reel sure does Cast well and Retrieves Smoth. Recommend. UPDATE. Just got another Optix 60. Needed it for my New 11 Ft. Surf Rod. Looked at other brands, BUT, I had to go with what I know Works. Quantum Optix.UPDATE..Went Surf fishing. Optix 60 Long cast, butter smooth retrieve. 5 year Warranty.

Strong for the price you can’t beat it. Pair it with a Berkley Big Game 8ft Heavy. You got yourself a budget catfish setup.

There is nothing to dislike about this reel. It's well made and can handle any fish you may come across both in freshwater and hitting the surf's. I may purchase another one very soon.

I love quantum reels. They've always served me well and these will too. They're very smooth and built with quality in mind. One reel came out the box with paint chips and 2 spots or rust tho. I was not very pleased with quality control cuz a new reel shouldn't come like that.
