I’ve only used these twice - first time for a half hour trip (hour round trip) and second time for an 9 hour trip (18 hours round trip). They worked great. We only needed to use two (in front) as we have tie downs on our hitch. So I like that when/if these wear out, we’ll have two more. They were extremely easy to use and seemed very secure. I would highly recommend them if you are planning on carrying your kayaks on your roof. I used them with camstraps which made the whole process very quick and easy to cinch up and get everything nice and tight.

These are great anchor tie-downs. The anchor is soft durable rubber, so it molds down if you don’t have it in the right spot before you close the hood or trunk. ( you won’t damage your vehicle ) The tie-downs are tough, don’t try to save money and make your own from something laying around the house . ( a mistake ) just buy this to anchor your kayak , etc. you won’t retreat it..

Since we don't have rain gutters on are cars any longer these will work . The strap might mark the paint. When I take nylon straps over varnish (wood boat) sometimes we wrap the nylon with a sort cloth- one layer - zip ties. (If the straps sing or buzz in the air flow you can wrap a zip tie tight around the nylon strap - squeezing it into a deformed U-shaped - and this will stop the sound. The only down side is if you open the door or hood you will loose the tension set up. But then there may be no other way but these to get the canoe up north

I bought these to avoid further damaging the paint on my SUV with the ratchet straps I had been using to secure my kayak bow and stern. Also, it was a pain to load up my kayak; I had to raise the hood and secure the front to an open hole and get on my knees and lean under the back of the car to find the tow hook. With these, I just popped one under the hood, one under the rear door, gave a quick tug and hooked pulley ratchets to them. Along with the straps that secured the kayak to the J hooks, my kayak was very stable and nothing came loose, wobbled, or made that awful strap-in-the-wind sound. Additionally, no straps touch my car so my paint is safe!

These hooks to put in the hood and the back end of my vehicle worked great! My Kayak was very stable in place along with my portable rack tie downs on top of the vehicle no movement going 55mph. Great product.

The tie downs are a great way to get additional attachment points on vehicles that don't have a good place to secure straps or tie downs. Very versatile.
