We bought this for our ventless stove, in replacement for the original logs. We were advised to replace the original during yearly service. These didn't have a odor when we first put them in, but after time we noticed one. We rearranged them, and ultimately ended up removing them.Overall they were fine until they weren't. They might be fine in a vented stove.

One broken

Read the fine print. It's made from ceramic "fiber". It doesn't hold up to a natural gas flame. The logs got blackened and full of soot that made a mess the first time I used them. Some reviewers said the logs shouldn't touch the flame. That doesn't make a natural looking fire if the flames are not in the middle of the logs.

So I have not been able to use them yet, but one of them broke when I was putting it back in the nice foam packaging. It's some type of foam and not ceramic ceramic. I put a lighter to the exposed end and it did not catch in fire so that's good. Was hoping they would be able to add a little heat when they get warmed up, but these I suspect will stay cool to the touch (mostly) even under flame. There is another photo of it on here which is what I am talking about with the material. They do look nice though and according to the reviews you need to place them a certain way.I would be on my toes using these outside in case a good wind comes through. Probably fine, but you never know.

Waste of money- logs turned black from heat after first use.

It says they are ceramic logs, but one came broken and they are actually some kind of foam with a ceramic coating on the outside. They are very very light weight. We will see how they hold up.
