I am always using a chain on our farm and these hooks save a lot of time and aggravation when using to move logs and machinery; once hooked up they don't come loose like a standard chain hook. I keep a chain on each of three tractors and there is always a need. I make chains with a standard hook on one end and one of these hooks on the other.

It comes as a pair , that was an added plus.I have used this a few times in the farm already. And not just in the woods..I like that it's a pin and not a cotter key.I keep breaking cotter keys in the woods skidding. My big chain slides very nicely to choke up on a log..Very happy..

These choker hooks look sturdy enough, but that they don't work due to their design. 5/16" chain does not slide through readily, but hangs up inside the choker opening. This may not seem like a big deal, but the whole point of a choker is to choke the load. If it doesn't choke, it doesn't hold.NOTE: I did some checking. A link of 5/16" chain is approximately 1.230" in width. The opening in these chokers is 1.160". The opening in the choker is not large enough to allow the chain to pass through unless it feeds through at an angle. If you want a choker that works, this isn't it.
