Incorrectly described, actually brass (no lead).This has NPT threads not compression. This is a good buy if you need National Pipe Thread (NPT). But compression fittings are what is needed for hooking up a new ice maker.

This came with two individual pieces, and both of them was defective. I put the first one on and got a leak. I removed it and attempted to install the second one and got the same results. I had to hire a plumber to come out and fix what was now a hole in my copper pipe.

Although the valve seals tightly to the pipe, the turn off valve part does not turn the water completely off. Of the two, neither worked as expected.

It was lighter in weight than the old one and the old nut was not compatible, but it installed easily and gave me a great leak free valve. Did not notice a reduction of water pressure.
