Product Description

Rain Bird 12DSH Dual Spray 180° Half Circle Pattern Matched Precipitation Rate Nozzle, Adjustable 9' to 12' Spray Distance, 23° Trajectory. This specialty nozzle features two spray orifices for improved close-in watering and more uniform water distribution. Unique patented undercut design cuts watering times, uses 30% less water and reduces water waste in windy conditions. Areas close to the head receive even coverage minimizing dry brown spots. Non-corrosive plastic and stainless-steel construction for long life. stainless-steel adjustment screw adjusts flow rate from 1.8 to 2.6 gallons per minute and spray distance from 9' to 12'. "Captured" screw slot prevents screwdriver slippage during adjustment. Nozzle sprays a 180° half circle pattern at a 23° trajectory and fits all Rain Bird sprinklers and shrub adapters. Fine mesh filter screen maintains precise radius adjustment and protects bottom orifice from debris. Trusted for decades, Rain Bird MPR Nozzles feature Matched Precipitation Rate water distribution technology. Nozzles with varying arcs and radii can be mixed on the same zone regardless of spray adjustment and still maintain even water distribution rates. A wide selection of MPR nozzles is available so the distribution of water can be tailored to meet the unique and diverse needs of your landscape. MPR nozzles are designed to provide uniform coverage, ensuring that your lawn is green throughout, with no dry or brown spots. Other Dual Spray MPR nozzles available (sold separately) are: 360° full (12DSF) and 90° quarter (12DSQ) patterns. Rain Bird “The Intelligent Use of Water"

The Dual Spray Nozzles are a fantastic upgrade for efficient and precise watering. They use 30% less water, effectively reducing waste, especially on windy days. Featuring a 90° quarter-circle spray pattern with an adjustable distance from 9 to 12 feet, these nozzles ensure even coverage and help eliminate dry spots near sprinkler heads. Compatible with all Rain Bird pop-up sprinklers, they’re easy to integrate into your existing system. These nozzles are designed for long-lasting performance and are built from durable UV and chemical-resistant materials. A stainless-steel adjustment screw allows for fine-tuning of flow rate and spray distance, making them a reliable choice for optimal watering efficiency.

These nozzles fit the 1800 series and UNI-Spray series sprinkler head bodies. They will also fit onto most other brands of sprinklers that use universal female thread nozzles. While Rainbird makes a wide range of nozzles, most are only available at specialty irrigation stores. Hardware stores and home centers tend to only carry a few of the most common nozzles.Rainbird makes a very good nozzle set with good water spray uniformity. Many of them have matched precipitation rates so you can mix different radius and pattern nozzles on the same valve zone without messing up the water application uniformity. Be careful of this as Rainbird's literature calls all of their nozzles "matched precipitation rate", but that does not mean they are all compatible with each other! For example, you should not use a 4 series VAN nozzle on the same valve circuit as a 5 series MPR nozzle. Read the nozzle descriptions for each series of nozzles below for details on which nozzles are compatible. The spray radius can be reduced up to 25% on all but a few specialty bubbler nozzles using a screw on top of the nozzle. Note that the separate screen must be installed under the nozzle for the radius adjustment to work correctly. If you remove or don't install the screen you won't be able to adjust the radius. The screens are provided with the nozzles when you purchase them. All Rainbird nozzles are constructed of high-quality plastic.

We still have some 20year old Hunter sprinkler heads but you end up with dry spots directly underneath the spray pattern. These heads fit perfectly and eliminate that dry patch. Easy to adjust and reliable.

To adjust the spray distance and water output of this nozzle, turn the screw on top counterclockwise for an increase, or turn it clockwise for a decrease. To adjust which direction it sprays, you can remove the top of the sprinkler head and reinsert the nozzle tube. Some sprinkler heads are installed deep enough that pulling the top off is undesirable, so you can pull up the nozzle tube and twist it until it's rotated in the right direction. It should make clicking noises as it is turned. If there's no clicking, then you may be unscrewing the sprinkler from the pipe beneath it, or unscrewing the top of the sprinkler, so I prefer to turn it clockwise.I use this nozzle wherever I don't need an adjustable nozzle because it does a better job of providing even coverage both near and far. It works great wherever my sprinklers pop up high enough, which in my lawn requires at least a 4 inch sprinkler. I have a couple 2 inch sprinklers that don't come up enough, so the dual spray part of this nozzle sprays directly into the grass right next to it. It's not the fault of the nozzle, but a notification that I should swap out that sprinkler head.I've also found that this nozzle can directly replace some of the nozzles on my Orbit sprinklers. My only gripe with this nozzle, and all Rain Bird nozzles, is that the adjustment screw tightness has a lot of variation. Sometimes it's so tight that the nozzle must be pulled up and gripped tightly to adjust it, which results in a face full of water if you try this while the sprinklers are on, but other nozzles are loose enough that they can be adjusted just by turning the screw without holding onto the nozzle. Fortunately giving the adjustment screw a few turns to loosen it up before installing it is all it takes to resolve this minor issue.
