I currently have a Rain Bird SST900IN, but I feel like it will do it's own 'thing' sometimes, and water zones I don't want it to. So I ordered the ARC6 (I only have 5 zones) and it was a breeze to install! Maybe 10 minutes, as I also installed the wireless Rain/Ice detector along with it (super easy). VERY, VERY easy to program, setup, and to schedule using my phone with. I love the way it predicts rain, use's the current weather and adjusts the length of time that it waters! Amazing! I do not think that there is any difference between the ARC6 and ARC8, other then two more zones. This one did not come with a power cord, but a two wire transformer. After I had it installed for a few days, I was in the front yard adjusting my sprinkler heads and I wanted to run only zone 1. I went to it and was like, 'Hmmm, no manual control...go get my phone.' :( Then I remembered I still had the old Rainbird controller, and I jumped it to this one. Works perfectly! Now I have manual control if I need it! I do HIGHLY recommend it.

The Rain Bird Arc6 was purchased as an upgrade for my existing Rain Bird ESP Modular Controler. The old unit was installed in an area that is inconvenient to reach. Making changes to the programming of the sprinkler system was frustrating so I was hopeful that a WiFi enabled unit would solve the problem. My iPhone got a strong WiFi single where the controller is installed BUT my WiFi router broadcasts BOTH 2.4 & 5G signals using the same SSID and I read other reviews that stated this was troublesome for the ARC6 model which runs exclusively on 2.4G. Thankfully, so far there haven't been any WiFi issues.Installation was straightforward using the hard-copy install manual that came with the unit EXCEPT for one issue. My old controller was wired with only ONE wire for the Master Valve Connection. The instructions state that one wire should go to the Master Valve Connection "M" and another wire to the Common Terminal "C". I first attempted to connect the available wire to the "M" connection, and although the iPhone app indicated that the sprinkler program was being performed, no sprinklers were spraying water. I searched inside and outside of the house for an additional wire that I may have overlooked but found none.I then moved the wire I connected to the "M" connection to the "C" connection and everything worked. I took off a star for "Easy to Install" since there was no mention of what to do if the Master Valve was connected with only a single wire.I'll update my review if I experience any anomalies but after 24 hrs of ownership everything looks good.

Once set up, this works great. However, I installed the app on my phone, and when I began to set up the time, the app told me that there was a new version. I upgraded to the new version, and when it subsequently tried to update the firmware in the timer, the update failed repeatedly, rendering the time to be a paperweight. I had Amazon exchange for a new one. The second time, I did not upgrade the app, and it worked fine. I still get messages about upgrading periodically, but I have compared the two apps, and the new version doesn't offer anything I need. My watering is limited by the water supplier to three days a week on specified days. I live in a dry area, so there's rarely any need to adjust the watering time because of the weather. I just turn it off if we have had rain, but I can make either of those adjustments on the old app. The timer seems to have some trouble staying connected to my Wi-Fi. The timer is about 15 feet from my hub (through one wall), so I can't move it closer. When it disconnects, the timer flashes the Wi-Fi light red/green so it is very noticeable. Typically, if I just press the connect button, it will reconnect. Not a big deal, just a pain. That's why 4 stars instead of 5.

Much easier to use and adjust programs than a manual controller. It is accessible from anywhere in the world to change programs or cancel cycles. Works with rain sensor not included.

I installed this Rainbird Wi-Fi system, but it would not connect to the Internet, even though the Internet router was 3 feet from it. Return for money back after experiencing no customer service from Rainbird.

The connector was easy to replace offering an easier way to control my sprinkler system remotely.

I had read reviews about the RainBird ARC sprinkler control being hard to set up and program. I had no problems doing both. I installed the app and connected with my wifi dual band mesh system very easily. But there is one item that keeps this from getting a 5 star rating. After running the system in the manual mode (as I often did on my old control head), the app went into an "updating" mode and wouldn't stop. After 10 minutes I called RainBird and they asked what Smartphone platform I used. Then they told me that there was a "glitch" in thier Android software that caused the updating problem. I later found that it does this every time and its annoying to have to cancel this update everytime. Perhaps it doesn't do this on an iPhone (or maybe it does?). Everything else appears to work well and it sure is connenient to be able to control my sprinklers from anywhere at anytime.
