This is a nice looking bowl and I got it to use as a key piece in a little solar fountain. The ad says it needs to be on the ground, but I thought I'd put it on a little stand and let the water spill over into a wide shallow saucer of some sort for a bird bath.Turns out there is not much of a flat base on the bottom. It easily slid across my metal stand while I was setting it up, so I did set it on the ground. When I find the right thing to make a wading pool for birds, I'll set this bowl directly in it to take advantage of the pouring water sound for this little fountain. It was in a sunny spot while I put the solar fountain parts together. In just a few minutes it was almost too hot to touch. Adding water cooled it down enough to move, but I'll have to watch the placement to make sure it's in shade all day so the birds can enjoy it.The picture in the ad shows this attached to a rain chain. I didn't know how much chain would be in the box. I didn't measure the attached simple black chain, but I don't think it's 12" and the whole central piece it's connected to is in there permanently. I still put the little solar pump in there even if it's off center and in a few seconds had moving water which will attract the birds. The diameter of the bowl is too small to utilize a spray feature on the fountain until I have the wading pool below it and don't have to worry about losing water through overspray. What is there now is basically a burbler and the moving water is attractive.I'm sure some of the bigger birds will have fun in the deeper water. The powder coating finish should last a lot longer than painted metal and I'm looking forward to adding on to the project to get the most from this bowl with a built-in scupper!

I like the sturdiness of this product but it is not in place yet.

As several others have said now, this simply isn't much of an anchoring bowl for almost $40. I expected something heavier, and honestly a lot better quality. If this makes it through one summer without rusting apart, or breaking I will be very surprised. There is very little weight to this at all, so make sure you have something planned for this to either anchor into itself, or fill it with to prevent it from moving around. I'm using it for now, but will definitely be looking for a better solution.
