Unfortunately we have two gas fireplaces, and they were wired to use regular wall switches (albeit with higher gauge wire to the ignition)...for years I've had to replace the standard 120V switches that you get for a buck or two at home depot because the switch would oxidize to the point that it wouldn't reliably pass millivolt-scale current. I researched the hell out of these and they were allegedly 'regular' wall switches that Rasmussen had sourced with gold-plated contacts, so they would remain effective.Well that's not what I've found--I WASTED $35/each on these, don't fall for it, go buy one for $1. I could have replaced it 35 times for what this cost. This didn't even last 30 days. What a disappointment. Unless you need the low-voltage wire they include in the box (pro tip, that's a couple of bucks at any home improvement store), then just SKIP this.

Was a 120 volt switch and not a millevolt switch as advertised - the fireplace does work but for how long is the unknown. Fast service but just not as advertised

This is just a regular 15A 120V wall switch. The only thing different is that they threw in some very fine wire. This is not a replacement for a switch designed for low voltage.

Same as a switch from the local hardware store. Only worked for a week then returned

I had a single pole switch fail that turned on/off my gas log fireplace. Keep in mind that the wiring is low voltage, but works identically as 120V 15amp light switches. This product is marketed as a “low voltage fireplace switch” and costs $45. After a lot of research I decided to use a simple single pole 120V switch. I connected the low voltage wires and it works perfectly. This manufacturer is probably going to argue that the switch I used will fail in a few years because it’s not a “low voltage” switch. My response, “I can continue replacing a lot of these $2 switches for their $45 switch”. Don’t waste your money!!!
