Works like the original at a fraction of the cost. Haywards is WAY too greedy!

I was sick when my husband failed to look for spider nests before firing up our pool heater for its second season. Flames shot out the side of the cabinet and the whole unit went down. While Hubby was busy worrying about how long the warranty was, I ran up and got the owner's manual. It wasn't long before we had an idea what happened. So he got his tools and electrical tester and went back out to the pool. Turns out this little part is a safety feature that is designed to shut down the unit when fire escapes the box. And since we live on an old farmstead, we often deal with critters of all kinds. So this was one of those things where buying extras just made sense. Hubby replaced the part in a matter of minutes and fired the pool heater back up.

I believe the OEM temperature limit on Raypak 005899F is 152C. The temperature limit switches I received cut out at a higher temperature of 167C. In my case. that is better as my unit tends to burn up the 152C switches often. The extra few degrees helps them burn out "less often" likely due to high winds, air flow blockage or maybe gas pressure a bit on the high side causing the "flame rollout" event due to high temperatures below the burner. I'll need to deal with that, likely by lowering my gas pressure or putting some shielding around the unit for wind issues.

SImple process to test the installed unit to verify it failed. Test the new unit to make sure it is good. Installed very easily.

Fixed my 'roll out switch open' error. My local pool company charges about $60 for one.I saved a bunch of money and have a spare or two

Much cheaper than buying from a pool supply store - hope they work, next time the heater stops.
