As others have mentioned, the one I received isn't the same model as pictured (purchased from DigitalKynect). It's a generic but smooth and well-polished, pot metal type packaged in an RCA-branded bubble package, possibly gold-plated but probably just goldtone. The model number on the package is VH71R. Maybe this is just RCA's current version of the same switch. It works though and the price is still better than most.I purchased this because my more modern...modern twenty years ago, TV/Computer(Game) switch for my Atari 2600 with coaxial input/output didn't transfer a strong enough signal for the modern cable signal coming through the more heavy duty coax cable. Also, because Walmart is usually always and indefinitely out of stock of things I need, and I absolutely refuse to pay Radio Shack or Best Buy prices for simple wiring and connectors. It's not a problem with my other game consoles since they have A/V hookups that don't need to compete for the one coaxial input. Who would want to unscrew and re-screw every time? That makes me not even want to bother playing the Atari, but with a simple slide of the switch...as intended with the TV/Computer switch... The old switch for the Atari could be eliminated with a small converter, but it's not necessary to spend the money since the switch still works just fine, for the Atari only, and when I would still need this A/B switch anyway. It seems sturdy and not ready to fall apart. There is zero picture degradation as through the TV/Computer switch with weaker wiring. This is only extended basic cable straight out of the wall...since I try to keep as much of the fake reality and modern crap movies in the living room and away from me as possible (Comedy Central, Adult Swim, Futurama, classic reruns and the local news FTW!). I have no idea how well this works with HD signals from a box, satellite or antenna. But, this works just fine on the 19 inch in my cave. I'm satisfied. This will require an extra, short coaxial cable to connect to the TV. Just remember not to use a standard cable, but one compatible with the stronger cable signal these days, or you'll definitely lose a significant amount of picture quality. Hopefully you've kept one after returning a cable box...

This switch is built like a brick, with the weakest point being the little plastic handle, able to withstand drops with ease. One should not be worried about the build quality on this device at this price point. Now it functions exactly as stated allowing you to watch OTA TV along with your service provider, whether it be cable, direct tv, or dish network as long as your service provider uses a coax cable to send you the signal. To use the device you simply move the little plastic handle from one end to the other. I know I am going off on a tangent, but setting it up to work with your TV is probably one of one's questions regarding this device as it was mine.Set-Up process:-Connect your OTA antenna and your service's provider coax cable to the dual end of the device (IN) I suggest putting your subscriber's service coax cable in the input (IN) marked cable on the device.-Connect your antenna to the only other available input (IN) on the device.-Buy a coax cable either RG6 or RG59 with F-Plugs on each end (Both Female Ends), and connect it from the device to your TVNote: You should buy a coax cable that is exactly the same as your subscriber's coax cable to prevent signal degradation or loss.Make sure your TV has a built-in tuner if you want to use a basic antenna to pick up OTA channels.Uses for this switch:-If you are recording a show, you can switch to OTA to watch a different show-If you live in an ethnic area where there is a lot of broadcasting stations in your area, or your subscriber blocked PBS or removed any other OTA station you can now watch it again, by switching the signal to OTA.-Getting OTA HD channels that are not available through your subscriber.-Pranks-TV time-outOverall this device is solid, and highly recommended. If you have any questions about this device or setup feel free to leave comments.

Device worked perfectly for switching between two retro game systems connected up via coax. Just make sure you have a third coax cable between switch and TV (or wherever you're connected).

Does what it should, but not as well as it oughta. Unfortunately, as other reviewers have noted, although this is a "switch" and NOT a "splitter," it diminishes signal strength all the same. Mine loses about half the signal power of a direct connection simply by running my antenna cables through this switch. For my purposes, however, this is still easier than the alternative.Digital signals are temperamental. In my case, that means there's no one place I can locate an antenna to receive a strong signal from all available broadcast channels. The best solution I could find was to situate two antennas in different locations. Depending upon what channel I wish to watch, I need only use this switch to change antennas. Great idea, right? Well, except I probably lose everything I gained with my two-antenna solution.I suppose I could go to the trouble of connecting to each of the antennas directly to the TV as necessary, but, yeah, that's crazy talk. So, until I find a better switch, I'll make do with this one.

Since my basic cable was not in HD, I decided to add an out of air antenna and pick up uncompressed HD from the air. Since the local channels could be spotty in bad weather I needed a simple way for my wife to switch over to the basic cable if I was gone. This switch worked perfectly. I have my antenna and cable company cable going into the box and just switch to which one I want the TV to use. This make for a clear signal and simple solution to my problem.

Bought this for my parents so they could split their satellite TV signal to different receivers (They were limited to only 2 receivers but now have 3). The signal that is split can only be sent to one receiver at a time but they knew that going in and say it works perfectly.

Works good, it is just what I needed for my setup. The switching button is a little small and feels rough when switching from antenna to cable. Also, the item toke 6 weeks shipping to arrive at destination.

Does exactly what it's supposed to. My father has both a VHS and Beta VCR and a collection of movies in both formats. The TV is an old Toshiba CRT which doesn't support multiple inputs. This switch allows him to easily flip between the two.
