Very soft to the touch but sturdy. My granddaughter is 13 and difficult to buy Christmas gifts for. She tends to be very selective in her wardrobe style and makeup and lotion products. I know she has a desk and chair to do her homework at but she has a tendency to sit on her bed and read. I saw this pillow on Amazon and it looked like it would match her bedspread. She was very happy to get it as one of her Christmas gifts from her grandpa and me. She said she used to have a similar pillow but it got worn out because she used it all the time. She told me it would match her bedroom perfectly and she was very happy that I got her one. Granddaughter happy. Grandma happy. Lol
