This little sanitizing wand is so handy! It folds up and fits perfectly into my purse! I don’t have any way of testing that it actually sanitizes, but it makes me feel better at least! It is very bright and is easy to use!

I bought this based on the fact that it has the Real Simple brand. I like Real Simple Magazine a lot, and believe in their brand values of Simplicity, Practicality, Timeless Aesthetics, and Reliability.When I opened this up, I really thought I had been duped into getting just junk that would end up immediately in a landfill. UVC disinfection relies on the correct wavelength being used. There was no info on what wavelength this uses, although there is a chart on the box which shows what wavelengths are effective in disinfection. There are only really basic instructions in the box.I did a quick read on testing UVC and Science Direct had an article on the banana test whereby you take two green bananas. One is used as a control and one is treated with the UVC light for 15 minutes. Then you wait a few hours to see if there is any change in the treated banana. I was actually AMAZED that the treated banana shows signs of browning right where I had treated it with this wand.I plan to use this to treat an area in my shower that is susceptible to mold. I will report back if this is ineffective, but I think it may be an easy way to keep my house cleaner and healthier.
