Works just fine. I don't know what anyone else is talking about. No, this doesn't break glass. Yes, this scores glass to enable you to break/cut glass.1) Place straight ruler/object on glass, on line you want to cut.2) Drag cutter along glass, FIRMLY. If it's not making a sound that's almost like ripping paper, you're doing it wrong.3) Line up score line with edge of flat surface. BREAK. Be HARD and be FAST. If you do it low you'll get a jagged edge. Do it fast and you'll get as smooth as you can get.Just used it a good 5 times, each score came out just fine, broke clean.

This is a very average tool for cutting glass, price was right for my occasional use to cut glass for lanterns or picture frames. I use this very infrequently, when I do, I dip it in oil to keep the cutting roller from gunking up. Sometimes works great, sometimes not so great. I attribute this to my lack of precision/skill and the fact that I am using cheap glass. If you are a crafter, not a hard-core glass cutter, this will be great. For the price, just as good as anything you can get of similar style.

I have used this in two contexts; it is a little different to operate in each, but it works for both.I was first exposed to this tool when I was in grad school in chemistry. We would buy large, glass-backed TLC (thin layer chromatography) plates and cut them smaller to actually use. You could get away with scoring pretty lightly when doing TLC plates (and breaking along the score lines with gloved hands) because the glass was thin. In that instance, you pretty much just needed to see the score line in order for this to work.I have also used this to cut thicker glass at home. Please note that the glass I am cutting is sold for crafts and is not random glass I found around the house (e.g., not in windows or storm doors, etc.). So it is the kind of glass you were actually meant cut with this item. I am also using smaller pieces, usually a couple of inches or less. I am mostly cutting glass to use in jewelry making (like, I will put copper foil tape around the outside and then use a soldering iron over the copper tape) so I am not doing anything large or heavy. This tool is perfect for the small-ish pieces I am cutting. When you are cutting glass thicker than TLC plates, you need to score pretty hard (you should hear a sound) before trying to break. I also have a pair of running pliers that I sometimes use to help me break along the score. You may have sharp edges on the glass after cutting, so be prepared for that and handle carefully. I have not tried too many rounded edges yet; I actually think it would be difficult to use the little wheel here to score a full circle, and then to punch the circle out, but you can do a partial rounded edge for sure.Anyway, if you are interested in cutting glass on a small scale for craft or hobby purposes, this is pretty easy to use once you get the hang of it. It probably helps that I had someone show me how to use it in the lab, back in the day.

Before I start and get comments telling me how to cut glass, I understand how to functionally cut glass. I understand that products such as these don't actually cut the glass, but rather they score it and you have to finish the job using a technique such as heating it and cooling it. I just want to head off those comments now.Now if you can tell me how to use this properly to get it to score, I'd be more than willing to hear that. I couldn't get it to even score the glass. I admit that I might be using it incorrectly or that I could have simply gotten a defective tool, but no matter how I tried, I couldn't get it to even scratch the glass. So despite the fact that this product had some good things going for it, I have to "hate" this product and declare that I feel like I wasted my money! What did it have going for it that was good? I felt like it had a good feel in my hand and that it was sturdy. The price was also very reasonable had it worked. I ended up purchasing another product that worked very well, and we got our project completed. Sadly, this product was of no use to us. I tried to make it work. She tried to make it work. We both failed. I see that a lot of people seemed to have success with it so did we just get a dud or is there some trick to this product that we missed?

For the price you are, of course, getting a no frills glass cutter. This little cutter did the job that I needed. A nice feature is the ball end, which assists in tapping out the glass after it is cut. I did have to trace my score numerous times to get the final glass out without breaking it too bad. I would also suggest that you add a dab of oil to the wheel for a smoother cut. For the price, you get a great tool.

It cuts..TIPS:1. ALWAYS use eye protection and some type of gloves as shards may fly!2. Glass should be cut on a hard surface, BUT, with a towel or thin pad (rubber shelf/drawer pad material works great!) under glass3. It does NOT take a lot of pressure.. If shards are popping everywhere, you are pressing too hard and will have a jagged edge.4. After scoring glass, flip it over and press the score line from the back. The pad underneath will allow just enough give to allow the glass to separate without breaking anywhere else - IF DONE CORRECTLY -5. I found the ball to be too destructive for splitting the cut pieces and only apply a little pressure as this was safer and worked very well for me.6. Oil the cut wheel axle periodically to keep it rolling smoothly.

Simple, effective tool for cutting glass. Great for the hobbyist DIYer. I've never used a glass cutter before but I managed excellent results with this cutter. I watched a few youtube videos and was off to the races.Just make sure you apply solid pressure and get that scratching sound when youre scoring the glass. I was only doing straight cuts but I imagine you can free hand as well to some degree.Highly recommend this tool. Cant go wrong for the cost.If you found this review helpful please click yes below.

I used this to cut borosilicate glass, I used a straight edge to hold it in a proper line, and after a little bit of effort, it scored enough to cut the glass. Works great, would buy again.

Quick delivery and works as advertise. I had difficulty cutting class and getting it to break properly. That could be inexperience or the thickness of the glass I was cutting. It'll get better with more tries, I was able to cut the mirror into the size I wanted so for that purpose it worked.Product does work according to related YouTube videos I was watching.
