I'm a die-hard steelhead fisherman and duck hunter. Standing in cold water or even in snow conditions for 10 hours a day can really put your gear to the test. I have both gortex and neoprine waders. For winter fishing/hunting, I prefer neoprine. I can stand in a snow storm for hours wearing them with good fleece. I've used multiple types of long underwear under my waders, as well as fleece pants and eventually this style of fleece wading pant. This style is the best because they're tapered and don't bunch up in the leg. If it's really cold out (20's - low 30's) I'll even wear long underwear under them. These Redington's have a nice think, heavy fleece. They're very warm. I had a different pair from "the fly shop" and their fleece was too thin. I've also used normal fleece pants and they bunch up too much. These Redingtons are awesome and much better. They have three pocks, one on each side and one in back. These pockets are handy. More than once I've worn these into a store to grab lunch at a deli. Yeah, don't look great because of the slimmer fit in the legs, but they look better than long underwear and/or having to change clothes just to go into a store. In terms of size, I'm 6ft tall, 195lbs. Large fits perfect. As a point of improvement, the stirrups are really light weight stretch fabric. They feel a little too light weight because if I had heavy socks under them you feel like you could rip them. In cold weather I wear one pair of lightweight wool socks under them, then put the pants with stirrups on, then put a second pair of larger socks over them. That's been the warmest setup so far and doesn't put as much stress on the stirrups. Plus as others have mentioned, these are tapered and can get tight if you tried to wear really heavy socks or two pairs under the stirrups. These pants are not what you would want to wear if planning to hike in your waders a lot. i.e. if you had a long hike down to the river. You might get too warm. I mainly travel down the river in a boat, get out, fish a run and then keep moving. So not a ton of walking or movement to get your body heat up.----------------- UPDATE - 2015 ------------------------------I've had these a few years now and still going strong. The stirrups do stretch out a bit. It's definitely best to wear a light pair of socks under them and then put the heavy pair over them. Your feet will slide into the waders better and this puts less stress on the stirrups.

While I have not had an opportunity yet to try them in the field, my initial impression is that they are very nice.I wear 42x32 pants and the xxl fit really well. (6'5 340lbs) They are just a touch long, but I have short legs; the extra length seems nice when kneeling down though.I had no trouble getting my foot through the stirrup like many other reviews had warned about. (May have been redesigned recently?)The material is super soft and comfortable and I got noticeably warmer just trying them on inside. The zippered back pocket is a must have and the zippered fly is a nice bonus.Edit: 2 years later, these pants are still great. Incredibly warm. No need for neoprene waders for me. Very comfortable. Stirrups and zippers still holding up fine.

These pants are quite warm and great for wearing under fishing waders in cold water. The cut of these pants, however, is unusual. In my youth I wore a size medium, however, my waist has expanded over the years. So now, my torso is a large but the rest of me is a medium and I now have to buy a size large to fit me. This means that large size pants fit me around the waist but are a little baggy and the legs are always too long for me. I bought these pants in size large. These pants have a very low rise from crotch to waist but the inseams are sized normally. So these pants fit me properly around the waist and butt, but the legs are way too long for me. I took them to a tailor and had the pant legs shortened by about two inches and now they fit fine. If a large size typically fits you well, you will probably find that these pants are the right length but that they will be tighter than you are used to in the butt. Except for the unusual sizing, I recommend these as they are a good value for the money.

These are great and a definite game changer for wading in the winter. They're basically fleece lined sweat pants with a drawstring and pockets. They also have stirrups at the ankle so they don't ride up when putting on your waders. I used these today while wading. It was about 52 degrees and raining all day. I spent about 5 hours in waist deep water and my legs never felt cold once. My feet, however, lost all feeling by the time I was done. In fact, I swore my waders had a pinhole because my feet were so cold compared to the rest of my lower extremities. When I took the waders off, socks were dry, I just didn't have the benefit of these Reddington fleece pants. There isn't too much of a negative here, other than the stirrups look really thin (I'm extra careful when putting them on or taking off). Since the fleece adds quite a bit of bulk, these are not going to be fashionable to wear in public. They are functional for under your waders, but over a base layer.

The fleece is comfortable and warm. I’m 6’ 180lbs and the pants fit nicely(large). Well made, and for what it’s worth, look good. I’ll be wearing these under waders, fly fishing in the WNC streams and rivers when the weather is cold.

I just used these for the first time today. It's not that cold out but I imagine these would keep you pretty warm if it was cold. The fit is odd. I'm 5'10 170 lbs and bought the medium based on what everyone on here said about the sizing running very big. They fit just ok. The fit is kind of snug and the crotch is cut too tight so you can only pull them up so far. I was gonna send them back but for the price they are fine. If the fit was better i would have given higher rating because they are very nice pants with good pockets.
