I don't smell anything remotely close to berries. Smells like a rotten grapefruit. But of course that is subjective. Had to move it out of the house. A positive is, it puts off a heavy smell so it's good for a large area.

I thought it smelled nice before I opened the plastic stopper so I set it up in my bathroom. An hour later I started to feel really sick. It was so strong & sickly sweet that it made me ill. I had to wrap it in plastic bags 3 times, then I opened all my windows & turn on my fans to get the smell to dissipate. Sadly, I had to throw it away.
