This is my second Reese Towpower (7060200) Tow and Go Hitch Step. I had one of the earlier versions first that used counter-sunk Phillips-Head bolts to secure the top plate to the Hitch Step with counter-sunk locking nuts. I had absolutely no problems using this design, although some reviewers complained about the Phillips-head bolts and not being able to tighten them. Mine never came loose and I did not even use thread locker as some said you need to. I guess some people have to complain about something. Personally, I thought it gave the installation a much cleaner look. And as for the amount of weight the Hitch Step handle, I weigh over 250lbs and have had no problems what so ever using the step. I have seen a picture in reviews of a broken step and from the looks of it, one of the bolts had been tightened so much that it simply cracked the mounting point. Folks this made from aluminum ... not steel, so be mindful of over-tightening the bolts or you will have a problem. I have the same issue a lot of guys do, as in that I tend to over-tighten things often, thus breaking them. Now, this 2nd Hitch Step uses hex-head bolts, which will allow a person to tighten them much easier. Also, even though they send Nylock nuts that prevent them from coming loose from vehicle and road vibration etc., I did use blue Loctite Blue 242 Threadlocker on mine. But the only reason I used it was just because it was already sitting on the bench next to me when I put the Hitch Step together. So, why I purchased a second hitch step. Well, my step broke into ... wait though, the issue was not caused by the Reese Towpower Tow and Go Hitch Step design or a flaw. Allow me to elaborate, I had just returned home and decided back in to park in my side yard for whatever reason. This was something I did frequently and honestly I can do it blindfolded, ... umm, except for this day it seemed. I had two nice Pear trees on that particular side of the yard ... emphasis on had. Somehow, even though I knew it was there and was using my side mirror as I backed up, I centered one of the pair trees almost perfectly. I knew instantly what I had done and got out to inspect the damage to my truck I had just gotten, expecting to need a tailgate and bumper. I was astonished to see that the only thing damaged was the Hitch Step. The right side of the step had hit the pear tree and actually knocked the tree down completely. The step was broke at the bottom and bent upward and forward, the metal plate on top, though was also bent and cracked, however, it was still attached to the hitch. Now, when I say sturdy in the heading of my review, you can count on it. I have included a couple of pictures to show the hitch after the break, the trees, and my newly installed Reese Towpower Tow and Go Hitch Step. So, if you are considering one of these but are unsure, just buy it you will not be disappointed.P.S.I have tried to upload pictures of the step damage and tree I knocked down with it, but I don't have that option available for some reason. If I get help from Amazon maybe I can add them later.

I own a 4x4 pickup truck and I ordered an 11” drop hitch to put on my truck so my trailer would set level and this Reese step to bolt onto it so I could get in and out of the bed of my truck easier. Nice step and it works well!

Fit perfectly into existing hutch. Very useful for getting into truck bed, and more secure than the slippery bumper or stepping on the ball itself.

The craftsmenship of this items seems well made. However it arrived missing a bolt, two nuts and a washer.

Got all 4 nuts, but missing a bolt and a washer. Simple fix for .50 cent or less at any hardware store. No seal tape on product box so won't say who to blame. If you have the same issue and can't just pickup hardware call Reese not Amazon you'll get better results. This model 7060200 has gloss black paint not textured powder coat as in the Amazon post image(third image). This model also has the 12 point clamp plate rather than the 6 point shown in some images. Doesn't look as clean in application but better suited for real life use.I don't need the plastic ABS spacer since I'm using this on a Reese ball hitch, but it is designed to be fragile at specific points attempting compatibility with different balls.I would only tighten the bolts down snug to the nylon stop nuts, too tight not good for aluminum base. Tighten later if needed, its not going to fall off. Top plate is 5/16 steel, no worries there.

I installed this as soon as I received it. I mounted it to my Reese interlock hitch. My first impression was that it seemed stronger than I imagined. It's at least 3/4" thick along the step and feels very sturdy. Mounting it was very easy; all you need is a size 3 Phillips head screwdriver and the ability to bend down pretty good. The plastic spacer it comes with is half pointless, but nevertheless, I installed it as per the directions. I initially tightened the 4 Phillips screws with a screwdriver, but was able to see some rotational play from the step. To correct this, I used an impact driver on the screws to about 30 ft lbs torque. If you do this, be careful not to strip the head of the screws. This eliminated any play from the step and will undoubtedly prevent any potential theft of the step (along with my locking hitch pin).I don't like the Philips screws as there is a higher risk of stripping them. Torx bolts would have been a much better substitute.Overall a great addition at a fraction of the price compared to other hitch steps that require complete removal of the ball hitch. And can still be used with a trailer.
