I have soldered for 50+ years , I have a temp controlled Weller iron with a very fine tip. This did not prevent traces from lifting up off the fiberglass board. Beware!!

Hard to go wrong with a $2 waveform generator - mine didn't come with instructions but I managed to get it working - one thing that was weird is that they supplied two different types of transistors but had the same part number silkscreened on the pcb. I just took a wild guess where to put it, 50/50 chance I guess. It worked!
