Thoroughly Clean the O-Ring Mating Surfaces
Maintaining cleanliness is essential for optimal O-ring sealing. Any dirt, debris, or contaminants present on the mating surfaces or within the groove can compromise the seal. Thoroughly cleaning and inspecting the surfaces before installation, and ensuring a clean environment during installation, prevents any particles from interfering with the sealing performance.
Apply a Light Coating of Silicone Grease to the O-Ring
Beaver Island Parts Company NSF Silicone Lube is specifically designed for outstanding performance in water sealing applications and should be used at every filter change.
Lubrication can significantly enhance the sealing performance of O-rings. Applying a suitable lubricant to the O-ring before installation reduces friction and helps the seal slide smoothly into place. The lubricant also improves the O-ring’s ability to conform to the mating surfaces, creating a tighter seal. However, it is important to use a lubricant compatible with the O-ring material to avoid any degradation or damage.
Hand Tighten Filter Housing Only
Do not use a filter wrench to tighten the housing. Only use the filter wrench to remove the housing. Using the filter wrench to tighten the housing may result in over-compression or extrusion of the o-ring and will result in leaks.

This is a bit of an unorthodox review, but I felt compelled to post. I purchased this ring to try to replace a thin, worn belt (left ring in photo) inside my child's toy. This ring (on the right) was so nicely made - no crease where the o meets, all one smooth piece. It's thick too, so very durable. When I put it inside the toy, not only did it make the toy spin again as it should, but it was such a smooth ring that the toy gears are now silent! The toy is from the 90's so it's got that mechanical sound that's now gone with this new ring! Anyway, hopefully this review helps someone with toy repair, or attests to the quality of this product for its intended use!

I am always amazed how an o-ring can magically grow by over an inch sitting over the winter and I have yet to find a quality replacement - that is until now! I have a Pentair Big Blue as part of a seasonal well. These o-rings were perfect both in fit and thickness/diameter of the o-ring. I've gotten some that were clearly undersized/small in the past. I put a little silicone grease on this one, and without any issues this sealed up perfect the first time (doesn't usually happen). Honestly though, I could tell this was better than the ones that I typically get at a big box store. I bought a 3 pack and then vacuum sealed the other two so I increase their chances of being "new" when I go to grab them in the future. Excellent find and just what I needed.

After a few years of use, I decided to replace the gasket in my whole house water filter housing. These gaskets are an exact OEM replacement for the gasket that came in the unit. I always use a thin coat of FDA-approved silicone grease on the gaskets to ensure a tight seal, and the swap was easy when I changed my filter a few months ago. After five months of use and another filter change, the gasket is working perfectly without any leaks. Having a set of three is perfect bonus in case one gasket gets damaged. Like the OEM gasket, I expect I’ll get years of use out of these new gasket.
