This is a basic Marine radio. It does not have many fancy features, but for a weekend boater, it is fine. It lasts a long time on a charge. It floats, is water resistant, has good sound quality, and is lightweight but has a solid feel to it. Very easy to use. Intuitive. The instruction manual is very brief. I read in the promo material that it is supposed to "vibrate out any water" that gets into the speaker area but I couldn't find anything in the manual that speaks to that. Probably the best bet is to go to the manufacturer's website or to YouTube reviews for details. Certainly, there are fancier radios out there but for the very low price this is, I think it is a bargain.

I wanted a simple, basic, inexpensive VHF marine walkie talkie for outings in my boat. I may never need to use this little radio, but I'm glad that I have it on hand if I do need it. It's very basic, and I like it that way. It does receive NOAA weather channels, which is important when you're out on a boat. I can't comment on the battery life or how waterproof it is, but from what I can tell it is sealed well and should be okay unless you just absolutely submerge it and hold it under water. A little rain shower or splash shouldn't affect anything.

I had some bad luck with my marine radio on the first go -rounds. Something was not right with the waterproof seal around the battery compartment and the unit stopped working; I wrote review here and sent a message through Retevis customer support. I got prompt feedback with assurances that they wanted to make sure everything was right for me and that they wanted me to be a satisfied customer. I got a new radio sent to me fairly quickly, and follow up messages from the same person at customer support to make sure everything was ok upon arrival. I really appreciated the efforts -- especially because I think the support desk is overseas. I am keeping my fingers crossed that the radio keeps working even after getting wet. Reliability is essential for safety when using gear like this, so I want to make sure that my radio keeps working so that you can be confident yours will too! I will post an update in a couple months because I would love to recommend this product and company based on their great customer service -- too rare these days.

Fully charged it only takes several minutes of use for the battery gauge to go down one bar. I left the dock with no confidence that if I was going offshore for any length of time, the battery would last. Total deal breaker. A good price but not worth it at all.

Excellent price for a perfect working radio! My only complaint is the rechargeable batteries that it came with aren't the best. I'll be upgrading those asap.

I did like this radio the size is nice, but isn't USB rechargeable. It's 12v and you have to use the supplied power adapter that you plug into a 12v plug, to me that doesn't make any sense. So this radio is not for me.
