I've always wanted to have one of these pointers. It's not like the old wood pointers teachers had in the stone ages but an improvement because of its design. It is 39" long fully telescoping extended and collapses nicely into about an 8.25" length when not in use. It's metal, of course, and has a rough feel coating around the handle to prevent slippage if you're waving it around I suppose. But it's a good feel holding it. One thing that surprised me when it arrived was the thickness of the aforementioned handle. I expected a thinner one but still not a problem unless you plan to keep this in your sport coat pocket. It could be a bit larger than a pocket can handle. In that case, you might prefer the digital pointers that shine a dot on the board you are pointing at. This one, however, does not have a dot just a nice soft tip made of perhaps the same material that the handle is. Good tool.
