My wife had a pretty dramatic health crisis last year and she lost a lot of weight as a result. This has made her fingers way more thinner, and her favorite rings don't fit anymore. Instead of having a jeweler cut, resize and resolder the rings to fit, I decided to try this Calipers Magic UV Resin to build up some thickness on her rings so they fit better. The kit is nice and complete; you get a jar of sticky UV curable clear resin, two practice rings and a nice UV curing lamp. This makes it very easy to build up surfaces and work in layers. Resins will cure and work easier if you keep it in thin layers as you work.Use the practice rings! They do help you understand how to work with the resin, and what to expect from it.So far I've done one ring, and it's working well. It looks ugly so I'll likely pull it off and redo it, but I better understand what I can do better next time around. Instead of plastic loops and other attachments, this Calipers resin will make a simple and more custom fit over time.

Was hopeful it would work. I followed the directions precisely and even “cooked” it twice to ensure it was going to stay on and as soon as I took it off the components fell out.

I was really excited about it. It’s a great solution and it works very well but I will be returning it, It smells so toxic, I don’t trust it’s ok for me to have it 24/7 in contact with my skin…

This product is exactly like UV resin glue. It works well when you overlap it around the ring, but not so much if you just put it on one side of the ring as it will fall off. I’m used to working with resin so I think this is great.

This ring sizing kit comes in a simply labeled box that included the UV light, a USB-A cable with no charging brick, two wooden picks, 4 alcohol pads and the UV resin. The resin has a potent scent that takes days to diminish, even after curing. The resin sticks to the wooden sticks easily making them useless to use. The resin picks up even the smallest hint of debris on your fingers, from oil to skin and discolors easily, leaving the material lightly yellowed and marked with fingerprints easily. The lamp is very under powered, has connection issues and doesn’t want to stay active with the LED’s on, making it very unreliable. I used a 75W resin UV light I owned to cure the product and even wrapped around the edge of the ring, the product had issues curing. With the resin having such a strong scent, no silicon spoon/stick/product supplied to work the resin, the poor quality UV light and the lack of instructions provided, this just isn’t something I can recommend, exspecially if you are looking for a smooth, more professional finish.

I have used little plastic spacer devices before, but I never really liked them, because they didn't stay on well, and they felt really annoying to wear, especially because I had to pay attention to not letting them fall off. I figured this sounded like a much better solution to the problem. There was a little bit of trial and error involved, when I first started to use the resin, but I thought it was really nice that they provided a couple of sample rings, that you could practice on.I found it was a little tricky to shape the resin on the ring, without it squishing out beyond the size of the band. You want to squish it into the band, so it's secure before curing it, but then you have to squish the sides back in, but then the shape isn't right anymore, and you don't want excess to be left on the side...Anyway, after mastering that, and setting the resin with the UV light, I found that it worked pretty well on my rings! After putting them on, they stayed in place on my finger really well, and I kinda forgot there was anything on the rings while I was wearing them (except when trying to spin them around my finger).I noticed that some other reviews mentioned a smell to the resin. I have a fairly sensitive nose (I hate most fragrances, scented detergents, etc), but I didn't notice anything outrageous about the smell of this product. I frequently paint my nails with gel polish, and I'd probably rank this smell around that level. Present, if you're looking for it, but not overpowering. Definitely a LOT less offensive than even "normal" (non UV/gel) nail polish, and I didn't notice the smell at all, after I'd finished using the product/put the lid back on the container. In conclusion, I'd say this works pretty well at its job. It took a little effort to narrow down the strategy to apply it to the ring, but it stays on fairly well. (My downfall was picking at the sides, since they'd been a little messy, which ends up peeling off the rest.) Of course, since it's also pretty easy to remove: if the size doesn't fit exactly right, after it's been cured, you can try again.

Has everything you need, including practice rings to practice with! My ring is not as wide as the practice rings, so there was a learning curve in figuring out how to get it thin and stay attached. Stay patient and keep at it because you'll eventually find a way to make it work. My tip: after scooping a small amount, roll it into a long thin rope and gently lay inside the rings curve. Press gently to adhere it. The curing device didn't always stay on the full length of time, but that may have been because it wasn't charged fully. Not really sure. It's been about a little more than a week and the resin has stayed fully attached, and is totally invisible while wearing. I had to look closely to see if it really was still there.
