Photo: My old black shirts were starting become this gross heather-grey shirt. If I wanted grey shirts I wouldn't've bought black shirts to begin with! After dying them, they become a brilliant black, about as black as my speaker, hat, jacket, other black items around the house. In person the black is even more noticeable, so I'm pleased. (that shirt on the left I forgot to dye lol, it was in the hamper)So I pulled out a plastic tub and filled it with hottest tap water (55 C), and let 5 shirts per batch soak in that with a tsp of dish soap and half a bottle of the dye for an hour(max time listed on instructions). I turned the shirts over every 10 mins. I also left a plastic tub lid on so it kept temp high. Did the post care instructions and they turned out pretty good! I'll defo be using this again in a few years when they start fading again! It's inconvenient to do it in a plastic tub, so next time I'll be doing it the actual bath tub, and I'll process all my shirts at once. The instructions say maximum of 2 adult t-shirts per half bottle, but I did 5 and they came out great. But my shirts started grey, so that is a factor. Black t-shirt is my everyday wear, so I want to look good. Cheaper than buying new shirts for sure.

I was feeling so down this morning because I was doing my laundry, and suddenly, my favorite skirt (one I’ve had for over four years) ended up with a nasty chlorine stain. I was devastated, as this skirt is a staple in my wardrobe! Desperate to salvage it, I searched for a dye kit with same-day delivery, and thankfully, I found this one.Even though I read that it might not work on chlorine stains, I decided to give it a shot. To my surprise, it worked perfectly! After following the instructions and letting the dye set, my skirt looked almost brand new in just about an hour. I’m beyond thrilled with the results—no more stain, and my beloved skirt is back to looking great. Highly recommend this for anyone facing a similar laundry disaster!

Color is really good, real black. But the gloves that come with it is trash. The dye penetrated through the glove and made my hand black :(

I was scared it would work on my clothing b/c I missed or read wrong some steps but it came out great. I put more water than I was supposed to and also more than half the bottle for two pairs of pants. i have dried and washed them twice and still haven't lost much color so id recommend it!

The Rit Back to Black Dye Kit is a fantastic product for anyone looking to refresh or completely change the color of their fabrics! I recently used it to restore some old black jeans, and the results were incredible. The dye revived the color perfectly, making them look brand new.The kit comes with everything you need: dye, fixative, and clear instructions. The process was straightforward and easy to follow. The dye spreads evenly, and I was amazed at how vibrant and consistent the color turned out. It even worked well on mixed fabrics, which was a pleasant surprise. What’s also great is that the fixative helps to ensure that the color stays rich and doesn’t fade quickly. The whole process was mess-free and efficient, and I was impressed with how well the color adhered and how durable it is.If you’re looking to breathe new life into old clothes or need a high-quality dye for your project, the Rit Back to Black Dye Kit is definitely worth trying. Highly recommend for anyone wanting professional results at home!

Started off looking fresh but after about 5 washes (I don’t dry my clothes) it reverted back to the original faded colors. I don’t use heavy detergent.

I used the bucket method with this kit, using the whole bottle in a single batch to dye an old pair of black jeans that had set-in white streaks from hard water (or maybe excess detergent?) and a button-up shirt. It did a great job with the jeans, rescuing them from being destined for the landfill. At the same time, I dyed a khaki button-up shirt. (I used the full bottle of dye and fixative in one batch to cover both garments.) The shirt didn't come out nearly as black as the jeans, but a beautiful deep charcoal gray. The stitching was unaffected, which was a surprise but gives it an interesting decorative effect... overall a win for a shirt I had been tired of.
