About this item

  • Robinair's Digital Micron Vacuum gauge is a cutting edge tool with an industry first multi-color backlight that functions as an instant go/no go indicator of acceptable vacuum or leakage
  • Patent Pending design employs a sophisticated MEMS Pirani sensor providing extreme accuracy at low micron levels and rapid response to changes in vacuum - range is from atmosphere down to 10 microns
  • Large, easy to read 5 digit display shows vacuum readings in 6 different scales - Microns, mmHg, inHg, mBar, Pascals, or Torr
  • Gauge features a features an impact and water resistant case with protective rubber boot, integrated 'magnetic' hook, and an auto shut-off feature that prolongs battery life
  • Includes a protective carrying case and 1/4 inch male flare X 1/4 inch male flare and 1/4 inch female flare X 1/4 inch male flare connectors/adapters

Robinair proudly introduces the RAVG-1; one of the most sophisticated Digital Micron (vacuum) Gauges available for field service. Packaged in the same convenient case as our successful Digital Pressure gauges, this standalone gauge is compact and can be used anywhere. The RAVG-1 employs a sophisticated MEMS Pirani type sensor that directly measures flow. Unlike all other field service gauges on the market, the RAVG-1 is not affected by temperature. The RAVG-1 measures vacuum from atmosphere to 10 microns in 6 different scales, and can withstand overpressure beyond 30 bar. The unit employs an industry first multi-color backlight that functions as an instant go/no go indicator of acceptable vacuum or leakage. The product is not designed to read zero when initially powered on. Once the gauge is ready to use it will display a nominal indication of atmospheric pressure, as well as the enunciator ATM. These values are simply indications of atmospheric pressure to show that the gauge is not detecting a vacuum. The product should not be used as a measure of true atmospheric pressure. The product can display vacuum in one of 6 different units of measure: Microns (of Mercury), Inches of Mercury (inHg), Millibars (mBar), Millimeters of Mercury (mmHg), Pascals (Pa), or Torr. To change the units of measure; press the UNITS button on the lower left of the gauge front. Each time the button is pressed the unit of measure is changed. The selected unit of measure is indicated by the enunciator along the bottom of the display. The product will start up in the scale it was in when it was powered off. The factory setting is Microns. Robinair, a Bosch Automotive Service Solutions brand, is a global leader in service tools and equipment based in Owatonna, Minnesota. Robinair is recognized throughout the world as the quality and performance leader in AC/R evacuation tools and this position has led to its success with the full range of products that serve the heating/ventilating/air conditioning/refrigeration (HVAC-R) and mobile markets, which includes the automotive aftermarket along with other industries such as agriculture and construction.

I bought this unit to complete the installation of a mini-split. Right off the bat I thought there was something wrong when the included T adapter was threaded differently then the unit! However I kept going on. I plugged the unit directly into my manifold instead and thought all was well. First time I was able to vacuum down to about 750 CFM, but not get lower. It kept climbing... So naturally thinking there was a leak, I inspected every connection, checked the torque on each and tried again... This time I could not get down past 2500? Also when I closed off the manifold the micros started to climb. So I repeated the process and got even worse results? The minimum I could get to was around 9000!! Thinking something was wrong, I connected the line to the high side of the manifold and to ensure it was closed off and repeated the test. Similar results, the lowest I could get was around 7000 and worse when I shut off the low side valve, the results still climbed up! The unit itself cannot keep a vacuum. It is junk.

When completely isolated and connected directly to deep vacuum the unit seems to leak. When pump is on, rated at 1 micron ultimate vacuum, the beat it pulls is 15 microns and fluctuates to 20 microns. When the gauge is shut off from the pump and isolated, the readings slowly increase 5 microns at a time although the led light remains green so does not indicate a leak. Since the leak is slow this may be normal for it to stay green but clearly the unit cannot be used in my system which is intended for sub 10 micron work. It leaks vacuum and is therefor nearly useless even if the leak is slow.

Bought this to vacuum test a new mini split. Was able to pull down to about 450 mic. No matter how long I left the pump running, would not go past that. Then as soon as I shut the valve and turned off the pump, it immediately started climbing. So I assumed I had a leak so did another nitrogen pressure test and rechecked all my joints etc and found nothing. So took a look at the reviews for this gauge and found many people complaining about an internal leak or some such. So finally decided to bite the bullet and get a CPS gauge to try to isolate the gauge as the issue. The CPS gauge and the same overall setup was able to quickly pull down to 200mic and during the 10 minute decay test it rose to 240. Immediately was able to release the coolant and all is well.Problem is, it had been over 30 days after purchase before I used this and have no return privilege. So essentially this POS delayed my project by a week while I figured out the issue and now I’m stuck with $160 paperweight that did not work even once. Please avoid this product and just buy something that works. The CPS gauge for same money works perfectly.

DO NOT BUY. It leaks and gives improper reading. It add 100 microns just by turning ON the light. USELESS

Extremely disappointed with this product. It never worked from day one. It just kept showing error (77777) the whole time. Not once did it register a reading. Very unhappy and it was a complete waste of money. Very disappointed!!!

Handy little gauge. Comes with 2 fittings so it will fit many different applications. Had to use teflon tape to get a proper seal when hooking it to my hvac gauges. Overall very pleased.

The one that works is pretty good but the other one doesn't give a proper reading. I tried changing batteries and resetting it but no luck.
