I haven't used it yet but will be perfect for my needs. I'm planning to make some relocation brackets for a seat in a Tahoe.

If people are incapable of properly converting metric to imperial measurements, they just stick to listing their products in metric only and stop misleading potential customers who aren’t likely to be repeat customers after receiving under-cut materials. The plates I received where more than ¼ inch short of the listed dimensions in length and width. The thickness was pretty close, so not bad enough to complain about there. If you need full 12 inch length plates for a project, these will not do.

As long as you don't need correct dimensions, these steel plates should fit the bill. They're a full 1/4" thick but shy on both width and length (3-15/16 x 11-13/16). For long-term storage, I think I prefer mill scale instead of the oily coating, but it worked as these have not shown any sign of rust.

Here are a few observations that may help your buying decision:• Thicknesses measured at a total of eight places on four plates averaged 0.254 inches, with a simple arithmetic variance of +/- 0.002 inches. (Per my AI query, within typical allowable tolerances. for this material and these dimensions).• Lengths measured at a total of four places on the four plates averaged 11.81 inches, with a simple arithmetic variance of +/- 0,002 inches. (Per my AI query, within typical allowable tolerances for this material and these dimensions).• Widths measured at a total of four places on the four plates averaged 2.94 inches with a simple arithmetic variance of approximately +/- 0,002 inches. (Per my AI query, within typical allowable tolerances for this material and these dimensions).• Seven of the eight sides have a uniform smooth black oxide coating. (The eighth side has a few minor blemishes.)• The plates come oiled for rust protection.• When laid over my 10 inch-wide, ground-surface drill press table — the flattest surface that I own — the greatest space between the table and one of the plates was roughly 15 thousandths of an inch (determined using feeler gauges).

This is 2 pieces of 4 X 12 X 1/4" Hot Rolled Steel Plate , no more, no less. It's a perfectly fine piece of steel, but the price is higher than I'd expect. I suppose if you need one shipped to you free (Assuming you have Prime) this might be a reasonable price.

Awesome raw material for welding or building or fabricating. Comes well packaged, wrapped and coated with oil. Nicely cut with clean edges and accurate dimensions. Very pleased and satisfied. Good value.

plates came with a slight oil film to prevent rust which is nice but they are a little short, both plates I got are 4"x 11 7/8"

No matter how good this steel may be it isn’t the advertised size. 12x4 should be 12x4 not 11 3/4 x3 7/8. Thickness is correct and plates are flat.
