Yes, these are made out of plastic. if you overwork them and they get too hot, they will start to melt. Don't use them on high speed and don't spend a lot of time working on just a single corner of the pad. Spread your work across the entire surface and take a break every few minutes. If you do this, the pad will work great and last indefinitely. Multi tools are great, but they're not great at everything. By putting this pad on you tool, you are basically making a saw do a sander's job. You will have good results if you understand this.

The Rockwell Sonicrafter is an excellent tool. This particular attachment gets into locations inaccessible to other tools. However, the Sonicrafter is also very powerful and if you run it at "6" speed, with this attachment, it will destroy the hook and loop on both it and the sanding pad in tens of seconds. This renders the attachment useless for holding onto the sanding pads. Using the tool at "2" speed gives many hours of useful service.

Why would they make 2 sizes that are almost identical? I don't know. But I bought 150 sheets of 3-1/8" sandpaper to find out that my sanding head is 3-3/4". Since the 3-1/8" seems to be the cheaper and more common size I decided to get a sanding head to match. The bulk 3-1/8" sandpaper available on Amazon fits these pads.

i read the reviews here and reluctantly ordered them and i am sure glad i did. i have a dewalt dwe315 oscillating tool and they attached without the adapter. many reviewers complained about melting during use but i have had no such issues. i have not worn one out under heavy use, yes the edges of the sandpaper become worn quickly if you are doing detail sanding but that is not unexpected. i just have not had any of the issues the other reviewers have mentioned. i think they are excellent and would not hesitate to recommend.

Bought these to replace the original that came with my Sonicrafter F50.Pros:Cheap.Small footprint so gets into slightly tighter spots than say the Milwaukee or Makita backing pads.Cons:Not durable.Would I buy it again?Only if the smaller footprint of the Rockwell pad was needed to access spots that the larger other brand backing pads are unable to. Otherwise I'd recommend the . Yes, it is more expensive but has proven to be much more durable. My advice is regardless of what sanding pad you choose, only run your multitool on the lowest speed and don't use much pressure. The long story:I destroyed the original Rockwell Sanding Pad that came with my multitool in about 3 minutes. I ran it on about speed #4 and this melted the hook velcro on the backing pad, rendering it useless. Okay, partly my fault, but regardless I needed a replacement.I was delighted to find that replacement backing pads could be found for such a good price. I purchased these and armed with the wisdom of my previous experience I reduced the speed to #2 and the amount of pressure used as well. Pad #2 lasted about 15 minutes. No melting of the hooks of the velcro this time, but the velcro on the pad delaminated from the foam.At this point I bought a Milwaukee Sanding Pad which has been great. It has more surface area of the Rockwell backing pads which helps with reducing loading. I have only run it on the lowest speed and it has given me a few hours service thus far. Being a larger pad, the Rockwell sandpaper won't fit - I bought Makita sandpaper (which I would recommend).I did find a use for my last Rockwell backing pad however. Due to it's smaller size, it was able to fit into an area that the Milwaukee pad could not. So that is it's one advantage. I used it on the lowest speed setting and it has managed about one hour use without delaminating/melting yet.I didn't have to use the different bolt that came with the multitool that is labelled "other brand only". The default bolt worked with the Milwaukee backing pad, albeit you have to fully remove the bolt.

Running at full speed the velcro will melt and become useless within a few minutes. Using at #2 speed and light pressure it will last 15 to 20 minutes which is too short of a lifespan. Too bad as the tool is great but this attachment is extremely poor.

Aún sin presionar demasiado, el cojinete con velcro se desprende demasiado pronto

The velcro grip on the sanding pad does not grip very well to the sanding pads and comes loose at higher speeds

A lot cheaper than any local store and they look to be authentic Rockwell products.A word to the inexperienced . Use the tool at lowest speed when sanding and this pad will not overheat.

Happy with this product. It was ordered to replace my Rockwell oscillating sanding head. Working well so far on the limited jobs I have used it on.
