This is a great little controller you basically get for free considering the Serato Pro upgrade.Despite what people say in the feedback, all you need to do is email Serato support with a few details and they send your key and you are all set. No voucher needed, but there is a registration card you need, so don't throw away anything until Serato is fully registered.I am an old school DJ and just wanted something basic to do some nice long mixes with my digital catalogue, but this thing is way beyond basic.4 decks, 3 effects per deck, stems, loops, drums, sequencer, beat syncing with pitch lock and more.It does take time and practice to get good at it though. It is really two disciplines - Roland 202 controller and Serato Pro. Not an easy thing to configure and operate all this technology. You need to go through the manual a few times thoroughly. For example, someone here said you can't hear both decks. Not true, simply blend the cue and master outputs to hear both. This is in the manual.Decks have a decent feel despite their size and I am not really trying to do a bunch of scratching. But they do cut in real time and slip mode is great for getting mixes perfect. Not everything is recorded with a smpte track and tempos vary slightly with some records despite syncing!Next is the Serato Pro itself, you need some serious computer hardware for this software. You must read the manual on how to configure your PC to operate for optimal performance.I don't use any of the streaming, but all the major services are there. And all updates are free.Latest version included stems which was an added bonus and works great in 4 modes with the 202. I had to trade off for sequencing but who cares - it's STEMS! Took some reading of both manuals to get it working - but this how you learn. Loop feature is also great for extending short tracks for long fade outs.Very light weight. Could you DJ a party with this? Absolutely! Not sure how much it could stand the rigors of the road, I have a hard case when not in use. Too many things to break on it.The one thing that really sucks has nothing to do with the 202, it is the Serato Pro Manual. You cannot download a full copy of the manual unlike Roland. It is all digital. What a PIA!This has cost me some time because the manual is in a bunch of different sections (within sections) and their website is not always updated, e.g. I get redirected to Serato Lite instructions and it can take forever to find the answer! All and all, well worth the money. Lots of bang for the buck if you take the time to figure it out.Practice makes perfect!

This controller is a great for a beginner. I use this as a backup. I also have the Roland DJ 505 and 808. This controller is my go to when I’m DJing a small family event.

You just have to take your time and just practice alot on this system and it really works well with serato the only thing that is really hard is the drum machine it will take some time .over all it is one of the best systems out there for a starter or a person that is on a budget. This machine will keep the crowd moving I like it alot

Bought this controller to 'learn' DJ'ing - the Serrato link to get Pro was sent to me when I registered the item and then obviously I had to perform the download and install it - BAM - it worked right away - sampling - different repeats - I have no clue what I'm doing but what a blast and I will learn - MIDI out is interesting to me as I use someother MIDI gear - my vote and 2-cents - YES-YES-YES

I was skeptical about the Serato Pro being free with purchase of this controller. After researching forever, here is the easiest way to do this. Be in the USA, go to Roland website and make an acct w/email address, register the controller, they will then send you a code to use on Serato’s product voucher page. It will unlock Pro and you are in. Again. I was skeptical but…..it worked. The manual does not explain this process, actually there is no clear cut explanation anywhere how to do this. I emailed Serato, the replied to do what I explained above. The controller is free, with Serato Pro. Or its $300 with free Serato. either or. its a no brainer. Hope this helps, good luck!

I've been mixing since 2001. I can honestly say Roland has done a great job with this controller.. It does everything Roland says it will. For those of you just starting out don't get frustrated do your research and learn to use the controller. It performs just as well as Pioneer and the sound quality is great. Awesome for the price. Don't let bad reviews scare you away. I have put the 202 to the test and it passes. The platters are supposed to have resistance and the buttons are supposed to be a bit stiff so you don't screw up with an accidental light touch. The crossfader is light just learn to keep control of it.

Have used this controller in a couple of different situations and it works perfectly, have had dj’s come up to me while using it and they were impressed due to the fact that it has the same functions as a big boy controller just in a small casing

Avoid this DJ controller. If you are a Beginner DJ looking to mix beats and DJ, the Roland 202 as of Fall 2018, is not for you. While it sounds nice, the drum kits are impractical (the pads), the sequencing leaves much to be desired. The controls aren't intuitive like a Pioneer controller. the worst part is that its advertised as a Serato controller. It even has Serato printed on the hardware in bold White letters. However there is a new 202 1.10 update along with an hour to 2 hour long process of just getting the controller working with SERATO... but wait, its a SERATO controller. not once in the history of a Pioneer Serato or ReKordbox controller do you have to do a 2 hour long installation update to make said controller compatible with the software its being sold as. Confusing instructions will leave the beginner vexed. Trust me, just stick with Pioneer. there is reason noone plays on this controller. It's not user friendly at all, from install to practical use.
