About this item

  • Eight XLR microphone inputs - Eight 1/4" unbalanced inputs, each may be internally jumpered to become an Insert or a Direct Output
  • Trim controls - Tone controls (treble/bass cut)
  • Individually switchable +48 VDC phantom power
  • RCA Prefader (pre Master Vol.) Output for recording, monitoring or cascading
  • RCA Aux Buss Input for cascading, or as a ninth unbalanced input - Mic or Line output level

The Rolls RM82 Mic/Line Mixer is an eight channel mixer in a single rack space intended for a variety of sound reinforcement applications including board rooms, churches, mixing console expansion etc. Virtually any application where up to eight microphones need to be mixed together, and space is limited, is met by the RM82. Each of the eight channels has an XLR microphone input, as well as a 1/4" unbalanced input. The 1/4" jacks may be internally reconfigured to become channel Inserts or Direct Outputs. Inserts provide a way to get each individual channel signal in and out of the RM82 mainly for processing purposes. A Direct Output is simply taking the signal from the channel only. Each channel has individually switchable +48 VDC phantom power. The RCA Prefade (pre Master Level) Output may be connected to the RCA Aux Buss Input for cascading two RM82 units together. This Output may also be used for recording purposes, and the Aux Buss Input. The Main output for the RM82 is a balanced male XLR jack. This output may be internally jumpered for a Line or Mic level.

This product deserves a rating of 4.5, but this is unavailable. I thought it was a perfect mixer for my application until I swapped it out for my Shure mixer with transformer-balanced inputs. The Shure outputs a stronger signal. Other than that, the Rolls RM82 rates 5 stars. XLR and TR inputs, on-off switch, analog level and tone controls, trim controls, switchable 48V phantom power on each input channel, cascadable. I am sing two of them in a gym for Sunday worship. Would buy again.

Not many choices for an 8 channel mixer in a 1U rack mount at this price point. I needed something VERY simple to operate and this fit the bill. At reasonable sound levels it sounds fine. Turned up to high levels on the amp, there is a bit of hum/noise but for most uses, you'll never hear it. Don't expect it to sound like a $2500 mixer at this price point but I would buy it (school Auditorium) again given the other options out there for this type of mixer at anywhere near this price.

Good product. But ours don’t seem to last more than two years in the field. May be better for in studio use only.

Good quality, as described, at a reasonable price -- I'm happy

I didn't buy mine here, but I'm leaving a review anyway. People say the transformers based units (which this is) are junk. Well, maybe they are and maybe they aren't. Maybe I got the right one the first time instead of testing out trash. I'm a technical electronics guru and I understand that the ONLY way to remove noise via analog is with transormers! Otherwise, you are only filtering noise, and won't be able to eliminate it completely! The only other way is to use an AD converter to turn the signal into 1's and 0's (which gets expensive)This thing is absolutely amazing! I use it to add XLR inputs to my MOTU 828mk3 hybrid via 1/4 analog I/O's independently. 100% noise free via transformers and AD conversion! Bam, double whammy! Plus, this gives me the line/mic levels for each channel on the front of the motu! It's beautiful!!! And the potentiometers are so heavy and smooth, you can dial with extreme precision! Plus, the bass/ treble attenuation does not "add bass or treble.." it removes bass or treble from the existing signal! This t h in will NOT mess with your sound! My favorite feature for the price is the ability to add phantom power for condenser mics to any channel you want at any time! Most AD converters will only let you do that in groups. My focusrite Octopre really annoys me like that..If you need a 1U pure analog rack mixer that is crazy flexible, You've just found it. Seriously! :D

In the recording business, paying a high price for an object is usually a mark of perfection. This preamp seems to work as well as some of my much more expensive units. I required additional preamp's for a project. This was priced very modestly. For all practical purposes I can not tell them apart, but due to the silly rule, as above, I needed to give it 4stars rather than 5 stars, which it deserved. Go figure!!!
